Perfeita experiência britânica. Fomos em um domingo para comer o sunday roast. Não é meunrparo favorito mas faz juz à tradição e a comida estava ótima, assim como a bebida. Recomendo muito!

I stopped by with a couple of friends after a walk in the local area. The pub and staff are amazing, but my visit was let down by the food. I chose the cheese burger and it was a real disappointment. Considering the premium price, I was expecting a premium burger. What I received was a very bland tasting burger in a boring bap.
I would visit the pub again, but not to eat I’m afraid.

A quirky pub with plenty of historic artifacts, many linked to stories from the pub's long history. On a busy Sunday lunchtime, the service was superb, with plenty of staff to keep things moving. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait for our food order, 2 Sunday roasts, it was in fact considerably less. Beer quality was excellent, it's obviously well kept. 7 vegetables on the plate sets a new record for a pub roast, along with an adequate helping of meat and a sizeable Yorkshire pudding. Deserts also had good flavour and were good sized portions. I foresee another visit in the not too distant future.

Theo was our waiter and even though he’d only been there 3 days, his service was impeccable in detail and etiquette, like he was seasoned in the profession. Nothing was too much for him and his service levels were matched only by the quality of the food served.
To be sat in a pub so ancient is something special indeed, we booked well in advance to be on prime table no1 and everything about the experience made it a day that will last forever in the memory of us 4 lucky people. John, Denise, Gray and Sue.

Great pub, food was brilliant, we had Sunday roast chicken and French onion soup. Both were generous portions and definitely did leave hungry. Look forward to heading back soon.

Great service and atmosphere! Definitely worth visiting at least once. Unfortunately I’ve been twice now and the roasts aren’t as good as I’ve had elsewhere. Roasties seem more fried than roasted and parsnips/carrots are on the hard side. It would be better if there was an actual veggie roast option such as a wellington or nut roast. Seems underwhelming to have ‘just the vegetables’.

10 of us dined, food some good some not so good, garlic prawns lacking garlic, mussels sauce was not right, probably split, sweet potato curry not very spicy , devilled kidneys again lacking flavour. Liver good but not enough mash. Overall disappointing.

Absolutely wonderful experience at the Royal Standard yesterday for Valentines lunch. We had a very warm welcome with excellent service from the team. A particular shout out goes to the barman with the hat (I think his name is Phil) who is a mine of interesting facts about the pub. The food was lovely with a very extensive menu of gluten free options. With 3 log fires roaring, the whole atmosphere was magical and made for a very romantic visit. I would highly recommend this wonderful pub/restaurant.
