Quite busy today but found a space in all the hides, saw a golden eye which I hadn't previously seen. Good place to see Marsh harriers we have seen them on all our visits here. As we were heading back to leave heard a bittern but didn't see it. Really enjoyed the day.

A great reserve, quality hides and paths. A wide variety of wildlife not just birds, great to watch the Otter going about its business. Well worth a visit to the Eric Morecambe and Allen hides.

RSPB Leighton Moss is a well managed and accessible site, with a cafe, gift shop, toilets and plenty of volunteers ready to share knowledge of which birds are there.
Over the last few years I have seen several starlings murmurations, a wide variety of birds and an otter. In January '25 there were large numbers of swans, lapwings, snipes, three marsh harriers and huge murmuration just after sunset.
It is worth taking a 25 minute walk to the hides at RSPB Morecombe Bay, salt marshes. There is parking only accessible under a very low bridge, cars only.
RSPB membership is required to visit, or pay daily rate, well worth it.

Pretty good even on a dull, gloomy day. Nice walk.
Be good to go back in better weather, different season.

One of the best nature reserves in the country for facilities and wildlife. Stunning at any time of year. You can easily spend a couple of hours visiting the many hides.

Here to see the Bearded Tits on the grit trays in the reed beds. Hoping to get sight of the otters which have been photographed this week.
