Wow! We were a group of 36 who took over the restaurant area for a family party and the service we received from start to finish was simply amazing.
The menu was great with plenty of choice for vegetarians, vegans and those who didn’t want a traditional roast, and those that did choose the roast were in for a treat as every option was beautifully presented with seasonal veg and a magnificent Yorkshire pudding and plenty on your plate - superb!
The atmosphere was perfect and the service received at the bar and at the table was exceptional and the roaring open fire made the bar area very welcoming.
The liaison with the landlord in planning our event was second to none and being able to drop the cake once collected the day before made for a less stressful drive on the day of the party and we had access before to set up with balloons and simple decorations and nothing was too much trouble - family travelled from Norfolk and Lincolnshire as well as from the wider local area and everyone commented on what a perfect venue it was for our large family gathering and what a superb atmosphere and great food - could not have asked for more - we will be back .

Each time we have Sunday lunch, the food is always amazing. Attentive service.
There is not one suggestion I can make. Food is always high ☆☆☆☆☆ tasty.
Jon and team., definate thumbs up for 5 star food, service, friendly, warming feel to a lovey restaurant and pub.

Went for lunch with my wife and daughter. We all ordered different meals and all of us commented on how tasty our individual meals were the drinks were brought to the table and food service was very quick considering they had a big party in the dining room. Will definitely be returning

Had a lovely evening here a few weekends ago. Called to book in advance. Came with our baby who was very welcome.
Amazing food, which there is a wait for, but so worth it!
I only wish we weren't so full that we could have had pudding as well!
We don't live nearby but are already looking forward to visiting in the future to sample more of the menu.
All the staff very friendly and helpful.

Went here for Sunday roast. We had rump roast beef which was quite fatty in places. Vegetables were cabbage sprouts no peas. Sprouts were hard nit cooked probably. Nice large Yorkshire pudding nice dessert orange chocolate.would not return here not value for money for main coarse.

Perfect pork crackling, Yorkshires that could very probably be seen from Space. Roast potatoes that had the full Armadillo factor. The thick pork fortifications (or Porkifications) were surrounded by a deep moat of rich flavoured proper gravy, thick, and finger-licking good. Served with spring greens, carrots, broccoli, leek and cabbage. We added some excellent cauli cheese on the side.
Puddings were outstanding, not your usual pub fare (although brownies, sticky toffee pud were available too) but we had the ginger bread (more a soft sponge cake) served with thicc and tantalisingly tart rhubarb batons and quality vanilla ice cream. We also had the banana bread with peanut brittle, peanut butter and an edible flower. I didn't eat that so I can't comment but my mate seemed very impressed.
AND our kids actually ate their dinner, which never happens.
Oh and they do fab ales as well!

We went here last Sunday for lunch for my mother in law's birthday lunch. We all arrived not long ahead of our booking slot and were shown to our table by a member of staff and before we had even taken our coats off and sat down we were asked what drinks we wanted! I know there is keen but this was just a bit too keen. My wife replied that we needed a bit of time to decide and quite rightly so. After around five to ten minutes we placed our drinks and food orders. That was another debacle - a whole 60 minutes to before our food arrived! That was totally unacceptable and the place wasn't even busy. The food when it eventually arrived was actually very good but our experience had been tainted by the two incidents beforehand. Also the Wi-FI wasn't working and didn't really get much enthusiasm to help resolve it that I just gave up.

Lovely pub with great service! Had the Korean chicken wings and the baked Camembert as a light lunch and they were both delicious. Would recommend if you are in the area.

We had outstanding plates of fish and chips, together with a goat cheese salad and apple tartin. Service was very professional. Chloe, our server was friendly and provided excellent service. Thank you Chloe for creating a most memorable experience!

Definitely recommend this for lunch after Audley End house. Had the bangers and mash and it was excellent. All the food was very good. Service was great

Cracking pub. Two of us turned up for food without booking one evening, arrived at the same time as a table of 10 who had booked, landlord very accommodating and staff very welcoming. Food was really good, freshly cooked.
Plus they serve the best Timothy Taylors south of Leeds

Honestly just had lunch with a mate here, never been before and will definitely return without hesitation...food was divine, service excellent. We sat in the garden.....sun was shining, happy days!

Landlord was fantastic. We had a bit of drama with our toddler when first arrived for a unbooked lunch. He was exceptionally accommodating of us and went above and beyond. Really made our day. Food was also excellent and portions were great. Highly recommend and will be going back if we ever venture that way again. Thanks
