Mien Tay is your place to go if you are looking for a cheap, easy, east london byob! Friendly staff who are very accomodating to large groups, can not recommend this place enough!
Food is pretty good for the location and price point, and location is absolutely stella if you want to kick on into shorditch for a night out!
Table of 6 of us in total spend about £25 each including corkage!

The seating isn’t too private so you’ll feel like you’re sitting with table next to you but it’s okay
We mainly ordered vegan dishes and one beef dish - it’s highly recommended for vegetarian options
The food is so so urgent if and flavourful, the tofu curry is so good id go back just for it

The food is not bad - pho passable (but not as good as other places on this street).
However service is awful - we waited over an hour for food and the staff refused to apologise, only arguing back and asking us what we expected them to do.

I had an unfortunate experience at Mien Tay on Tuesday night(3/12/24) . I ordered the seafood curry with steamed rice, and while the flavors were decent, the aftermath was anything but.
A few hours after my meal, I began experiencing severe stomach discomfort, which later escalated to full-blown food poisoning. It’s safe to say my night was completely ruined, and I’m still recovering.
I’ve always enjoyed seafood, but this experience has left me hesitant. Food safety is non-negotiable, and I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously to ensure the proper handling and preparation of their dishes.
I won’t be dining here again!

Food is ok but service is extremely slow. 1h15 wait from the moment we ordered. The owner said the kitchen was jam and didn’t seem to care more than this. We ended up walking out. The place is super noisy too.
I wouldn’t recommend this place on a busy day.

My favorite Vietnamese in London. Been to Vietnam a few times and the food here is delicious. Chicken curry and veggies spring rolls are exceptional

Came here from a friends recommendation and we were absolutely delighted with the food. Decent sized portions, really tasty and fresh. BYOB but you have to pay £4 per person that is drinking. Will be back!

This place is chaos they need to hire more staff. Waited 15 mins to order and then waited around 40 mins for food to arrive. Ended up walking out

Without doubt the best Vietnamese restaurant in the area! The food was unbelievable, super fresh, and the staff are really friendly. Definitely recommend the catfish.

Amazing flavourful food.
I had starters chicken satay. Delicious
Main Course: Duck and cashew sauce very good too.
My girlfriend had the Vermicilli Chicken with lemon grass sauce.
That was an explosion of flavour.
Only downside of the experience, the staff seem to be very in a rush to take plates and glasses from the table.
Almost feels like, you can’t really relax and have your food because out of nowhere an arm will cross your face to grab an empty glass.
Sadly, one of the staff asked me “ are you finished or still working on it?”
I said “ I’m still working on it “
He took my plate away with half of my food on it ☹️☹️☹️
As I was upset with the staff arms attacking the table I just gave up.

The food is authentic! I loooooove the BYOB option, every restaurant needs to have this!!
But honestly the food was delicious. Braised catfish was excellent and so was garlic morning glory. I will be coming back for more!!

Lovely pho with generous servings of meat, the summer rolls with marinated pork was refreshing and a great starter. Love how the owner came over and taught me how to eat the pho 😂 will come again

I ordered the Coriander to be removed, but the food came out with it in it. So I asked to change the food, but he said he couldn't. The server kept telling me to try it even though I couldn't eat spices like Coriander, and I had to pay for it. I don't think that's possible. I don't recommend this restaurant.

고수 빼달라했는데 넣어놓고 조금밖에없으니 그냥 먹으라고 못바꿔준다고 엄청 고집부립니다.
못먹겠다해도 음식값 안받겠다 해놓고 , 도전해보라 해서 조금 먹고 남겼더니 그대로 다 결제하고 또 오라는곳 매우 불친절. 쌀국수에 고수 빼달라해도 넣어요 가지마셈

Fresh tasty food. We ordered Prawn Summer Rolls, Tofu Banh Xeo pancake, Chicken Papaya Salad, Classic Rare Beef & Flank Pho for 2 people. Our favourite was the Papaya Salad. They did get our order mixed up with the choice of protein but it didn't bother us.
Prices are normal, not the cheapest on the street. They are open from 3pm-5pm unlike most of the restaurants on the street. Our server was chatty, helpful, energetic with a unique personality.

Authentic spot on a street known for its vibrant Vietnamese food scene!
⭕️ Special beef pho - Our go-to dish for testing out a new Vietnamese restaurant. The broth was solid with good meats, and all the additional toppings were provided, which is a huge plus. Generous portion and good value.
❌ Sriracha - Slightly let down by the choice of hot sauce; they used a different brand with a completely different taste, bringing more chili spice but lacking depth.
We also appreciated the complimentary orange at the end of our meal, a charming Asian touch.
Overall would recommend!

Came here a few months ago, beautiful food! We were served an orange at first which was refreshing, and we ordered some egg fried rice on the side, and for the main meals, Sweet and sour chicken, Squid with lemongrass and chilli.
The squid was incredible, the sauce it was served in was so good I could drink it by itself🤣😋, same as the sweet and sour chicken. The vegetables in the sauce were so good and were delicious even by their own dipped in the sauce, ate all of them of course 🤤. We cleared our plates.
For drinks we had a iced coffee and a cola. Little expensive but for this quality it was deserved. Amazing waiter, can't remember names but staff was very nice. Order costed £35. Tipped as we were amazed. Cant wait to come back.
Atmosphere was great and I love the decorations. Feels like you aren't in England.

Really great meal. I love that their menu has all the gluten free things clearly marked (and there are a ton of options). The pho broth tastes amazing.
