Where do I start we arrived at the Indian to meet friends as this is a sister to two very good Indian restaurants we was looking forward to the food our drinks order was taken 1/2 hour after we arrived and then the came back and asked us if we wanted popadoms and pickle tray which surprisingly was bought out within 10 mins after that they kept coming back asking us if we wanted more drinks 45 mins after they came back and took our food order after 1 hour I asked if the food was coming and the waiter was so rude to us 1 hour later our food appeared which may I add had to go back as was cold this was probably blasted in a microwave there was 6 little squares of lamb but very tasteless and all the other meals where the same very disappointed the manager who was taking the money at the end of the night was informed of this by us but didn’t seem to care it certainly wasn’t worth what they charged us I don’t mind paying any amount of money if I’m getting good quality food so safe to say we will never return the thing is they pack as many people in to the restaurant and then can’t handle it awful restaurant food and staff

I had high expectations for the food, but sadly, it fell far short. It was evident that the chef doesn’t taste their dishes to ensure they’re properly seasoned or prepared. My plate was swimming in water—enough to fill a bath—which made the meal bland and unappetising. It was easily the worst Indian cuisine I’ve ever experienced, and I’ll certainly not be returning. An absolute waste of money!

I've been here sevral times for a meal. The food is good, the waiters are friendly and polite. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice meal with friends and family

This is a good Indian restaurant for food and service (the takeaway is poor for some unknown reason).
It's reliable and consistent, has been here almost 40 years. Several of the staff have also been here many years.
The building is historic, the second oldest in Louth reputedly, but the restaurant is fairly dark and cramped. That's not necessarily a criticism, in many ways it's integral to the character of the place after so many years.
The prices are expensive by Louth standards. For drinks, they are utterly ludicrous and we've found ourselves going to the other two Indian restaurants in Louth, or out of town, on several occasions, due to this point alone. This is because if you have 3 or 4 people and you have 2 or 3 drinks each, it becomes prohibitive. It has long been known locally that it's on DRINKS that this place makes big money.
The alternative, of course, is to get your drinks in beforehand and avoid the vindaloo, as many do in any case!
Banquet night (Wednesday) makes the food considerably better value and is now the only night we'll go on. You'll still be paying £4.75 for a pint of Coke though. That's equivalent to £16.72 for 2 litres, an interesting comparison given that it tastes very much like it's been poured from a bottle! 😳
This is one of those rare situations where no individual aspect of the place is average, but when taken together, it's absolutely average.

Fabulous birthday celebration evening. Excellent food, good portion sizes, fresh tasting herbs and spices. Friendly, efficient service in a beautiful building of 16th century character. Very busy, book in advance.

Good wholesome food as you would expect but I thought the restaurant to be quite shabby. The service was a little too slow for my liking and there was very little room at our table for the amount my party of four ordered, there just wasn’t the room, it was quite claustrophobic.

Stunning quality food you must eat here
As a connoisseur of Indian food we enjoy trying different restaurants wherever we travel, this one comes close to the top of the ones we have tried ! The curry although not appearing busy with herbs and veg and colour tasted sublime, moist rice cooked just perfectly, and the keema nan bread had juicy meat running through it and a nice hint of crispy outer whilst maintaining a soft bread. Great atmosphere friendly staff and a lovely restaurant to be in, well done guys and thank you for an excellent experience 👍

Booked for a very special 70th birthday meal and so disappointed. The starter looked like it had been re-heated and the bhajis were burnt! Then we had to wait 45 mins for our main meal and watched people who came in after us and get theirs before ours? The manager didn’t seem very apologetic and just said it will be 5 minutes, so we gave him the benefit of the doubt. Won’t be coming back.

We love Helal Tandoori and make sure we visit whenever we're visiting Louth. Food and service is superb and the atmosphere is great too! Highly recommend!

Banquet night for 2 people. The food was top notch and I my opinion the best in louth. We couldnt eat it all so was kindly given a takeaway for our leftovers. The service was polite and very friendly so much so I wanted to give it a special mention. I love the atmosphere in the restaurant from the decor to the authentic music. We will definitely be back!

Possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. The initial drinks order got taken reasonably quickly but we were left for about another hour for our food order to be taken. It then took another hour and a half (2 and a half hours after sitting down) before any food was distributed. When the food did arrive it was cold and bland, many of the curries had only 2 or 3 pieces of chicken. They then tried to charge us for another tables drinks and were most unhelpful when it came to fixing this. Please note that the restaurant gets extremely hot and there is no ventilation which made one of our friends very ill and they had to leave having not eaten anything.

Iv used this Indian restaurant for over 25 years , first take away in over a year. Absolutely terrible, tasteless and like baby food. What’s happening? it use to be so good.

Where to start. We attended this restaurant last night as a group of 15. Initially we were very well recieved. The staff were a little slow taking our drinks order and even slower taking our food order. But this was just the beginning.
I will some this up with 2 1/2 hours later we received our meal.
This would not of been a problem if the meal was of a good standard however a couple of microwave meals from tesco would have contained more meat as well as more flavour.
Very disappointed and will not visit again

2 1/2 hour wait for food, which was average at best. Completely messed the bill up and half the food was cold.
I don’t say this lightly, but theee worst curry experience I’ve ever had and probably one of the worst meals.
Won’t be going back there again.

Went there on a date on Friday everything was ok. Till the end as we was leaving one of the waiters said to my date. You can stop here I will look after you!!! The creep not what you should put up with when you go out for food

If I could of rated 0 I would of my partner went to eat here last night and has severe food poising today. Absolutely disgusting vile place would never eat here.
