Stretton Watermill

We had been wanting to visit since 2017. We had a fantastic tour with Chris who was a lovely gentleman. We had about 2 hours there (as we were so interested and talk a lot). He told us everything and with humour and made the visit so interesting. We came away saying what a lovely afternoon we had. Thank goodness for the people who rescue places like the mill and people like Chris who do so much work to preserve places like this. Tom & Jean Pierce. WREXHAM.

Really nice place. Stopped here for about an hour on a sort of whistle stop tour of Cheshire. Probably the smallest museum I've been to, but very interesting and a very knowledgeable tour guide. Great spot for a picnic or rest stop for cyclists, too.

What a gem! A perfect time capsule, preserved by chance and cared for with love. The miller; Chris, gave us a very thorough history of grain over 11,000 years (it only seemed like an hour🙂) and the impact it has had on our modern world. The mill could be the oldest in existence because the date of construction is not known, but the most recent modifications took place in 1817! When Chris set the stones in motion, the whole building shuddered. It is well worth a visit.

I went along to an amateur radio "Mill on the air" event, beautiful quiet location, there is a gift shop & tours of the working mill are available to the public!

Beautiful, unchanged industry from the Middle Ages. Our guide was so informative and interesting, we were thoroughly immersed in past eons when the mill was a vital part of rural life. A beauty spot and a doorway to the past.

Visited as we saw it driving past.A real treat. There were few people there and the lady, who is a Miller, showed us round and demi started grinding wheat fir flour. Brilliant.

A fantastic tour from Chris whose style was engaging for kids and adults alike! Fascinating both historically and mechanically with opportunities to see the whole milling process in action on both waterwheels. Highly recommended to visit for families.

Excellent little tour with a most enthusiastic guide. Only £3.70 per adult, but please remember to bring cash. The tour lasted nearly 1.5 hours, and there were only four of us, but it was incredibly interesting and you get to see the various parts in working order, too. Highly recommended!

A lovely place to visit. Check opening times, as the mill is closed though the winter months.

Just beautiful, the watermill is quite unique and the people there are really nice and informative. When we went there was a apple juice demonstration so you could taste fresh apple juice with apples harvested on spot and also a butter making one. People could see the traditional way of making butter and have a taste. Not to be missed if in the area.

Such an interesting place and the gentleman who gave the tour Chris was wonderful. He made it really interesting for the children and they had a very memorable visit. Great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. Mill is small so is around an hour or so to visit. Highly recommended .

We really enjoyed our visit and the tour and talk given by the guide. A little gem in lovely Cheshire countryside. The presence of coots with 6 chicks swimming around the mill pond was a bonus

Very disappointing. The water wheel wasn't working so we didn't bother with the tour, just walked around. No warning on their website that it was out of order.
