This is a great place, so much to see and do, I didn't have enough time to see everything on my visit as I had a hospital appointment. What I did see was very informative and beautiful exhibition of artifacts from Egypt and then an Animal exhibition after the Egyptian exhibition. I wish I had more time to see everything in this museum.

Manchester museum is pretty wonderful. A fantastic free family delight. It was even more wonderful before it was refurbished because much more was on display. They shouldn’t have listened to the critique - it was wonderfully rich and to some extent continues to be so.
We parked in the manchester aquatic centre car park, not a million miles away. The museum itself does not have a tarmac tower of its own.
You will arrive and leave through the shop. Plenty of little treasures in there.
Don’t miss the galleries on the ground floor before heading to the stairs.
The natural history section is displayed in the most victorian part of the building. Lovely specimens, might be a bit grim to some kiddies. The rest of the top floor above the natural history section feels a bit bereft.
Some of the Egyptian exhibits are uncased. A beautifully smooth granite pot gives you the freedom to appreciate the skill taken to make it so.
There is a wealth of artefacts from the north near the exit and the eastern gallery has heaps of interesting exhibits.
A great day out for the cost of travel complete with a bite to eat where you don’t overwhelm yourself with too much. For the history buffs out there it may leave you asking for more. For the family it’s just enough to keep everyone happy.
Staff are friendly and approachable.

Great place, friendly knowledgeable staff, interesting exhibits and accessible. There are stairs but they've put lots of work in to make it accessible. It gets very busy during school holidays but it's free and you get to see Stan and Percy. Donations to its upkeep are always welcome.

An art museum should be a neutral and secular space, dedicated to culture and history. Is it appropriate that the museum hosts events and displays content promoting a specific religion (see iftar at the museum) and the gift shop sells greeting cards with religious messages about Muslim festivals?? This imbalance goes against the principle of neutrality that a cultural institution should uphold. Thought it is interesting to observe the way it is curated to feel the cultural decline we are experiencing in Europe.
