Fantastic piece of history, and clever engineering, that's stood the test of time Great views from the top over the pier and out to sea. Can't visit Saltburn without a look.

Really quaint old Funicular. Only a very short journey, so quite expensive for the distance! However, worth it for the experience.

Fun! Run by enthusiastic people, lovely little cabin, proper Victorian engineering, great views, and a lot easier than climbing up on foot.

Great friendly staff. I’m sure I’ve seen Trevor on TV before. The UK’s oldest water driven funicular Cliff lift. A must if you are in the area.

The tram isn't working at the moment but within a month it should be all steam ahead or should I say water. For now you can catch the bus at saltburn square and a bus back up the price £1.30 each way.

This is a great way to get to the bottom of the hill and back up. At the moment it’s not going anywhere today the contractor said it’s chockablock down the seafront. Although the lift is broken and taking over to boost in businesses is the sun the blue sky and the tourists. I’m sure that the lift repairers are good at their work and doing best they can. The sun has been beautiful all morning it’s now 13.36 there’s no sign of rain and not much wind business is booming the date 8th July.

The Saltburn Cliff Tramway is one of the oldest operating water balanced cliff funicular in the world, opening in 1884. It provides scenic views of Saltburn beach and the coastline as it travels up the cliffside. I visited the Saltburn Cliff Tramway today, but unfortunately, it remains closed after the significant electrical fire back in January. The damage to the historic building has unfortunately turned out to be quite extensive, according to the updates. This means hopes of reopening for the Easter holidays have been dashed, as the repairs are more complex than initially hoped. No new reopening date has been provided yet. When I asked staff for a timeline, they could not provide one due to the scale of work still needed after such a severe electrical incident. It's a real shame that this much-loved local attraction remains out of use. I hope RCBC can complete the upgrades and restoration safely and soon. In the meantime, visitors miss out on experiencing this beautiful cliffside engineering marvel from the past.
