This is a real Natural Trust gem, and quite well located just off the M42 south, the staff really bring the stories to life and are so knowledgeable and willing to engage with visitors. I have been twice now and learn and appreciate it a little more at each visit.

There was a half term childrens trail advertised which is why we went. When we got to reception I told the assistant that we had come to do the trail. She was extremely dismissive and just waved her arm towards a blackboard with a list of things to find. Totally disorganised, just 5 random displays that we just stumbled across. The restaurant was absolutely heaving. I queued for over 30 minutes to get food and then all the tables were taken. Had to take the food to tables outside and eat in the freezing cold ( It was 2c). Very disappointing day out.

A beautiful cozy, family type historical house, stacked with wonderful 17th century furnishings and staffed by interesting, engaging volunteers. A great day out in any weather but especially nice on a sunny day.

Charming old farm house converted with reclaimed oak from nearby stately homes in the area. Tapestries galore and a big open fire in the entrance hall. Lovely when it was so cold outside. Yew gardens were visible through gates and would be wonderful to wander round in better weather, it's a shame we didn't know the house closes at 3, last entry is 2:30, as we'd like to have spent more time rather than a rush visit. Still a well worth place to visit with a good café and gift shop plus garden shop.

Nt, super place to visit, the volunteers are very knowledgeable and will answer questions.. plenty of carpark spaces, cafe, toilet etc, going back in summer when gardens in bloom

Very disappointing especially when you get told in the reception the area where you can take dogs, then a lady who works there starts shouting that we're not allowed in that area. Very embarrassing and un professional 😐 Will not be returning here due to this encounter

This was a lovely house to visit, the guides in the house gave us some lovely history and were happy to answer all of our questions. Access - There is a short flat walk from the entrance to the house and you can rent mobility scooters. To get into the house it is two steps up - unsure if there is a level or ramp access. The downstairs floors are slightly unlevelled but I didn’t feel it too much unless I was actively looking at the floors. To get upstairs there is a two storey stone staircase ( I can’t remember if there is a handrail ) and the upstairs floors are very uneven.

I took my girlfriend on our first date here and had a wonderful time even though it was January. It was lovely to walk around the grounds and the staff were friendly. Over all I’d highly recommend a visit!

Really good feed in the restaurant encore a walk around the lake and woods where we saw the most amazing display of snowdrops that in places blanketed the ground
