Basic very friendly. Reasonable. Not sure about food served or not..just did a stop over 2 nights New ownership due so may be improvements to follow.

The hotel was very dated, it had a particular smell to it. The rooms were dirty and smelled. Had to change my pillows because they were moldy. I give them an extra point for giving me new pillows. The area didn't feel safe. Overall disappointing experience, definitely not going back.

I went to Southend on sea because I was depressed but this hotel made me down it's just horrible night, thanks God it was just 1 night, the room is very narrow and smells. There is nothing in the bathroom no shampoo. The receptionist was cold. Only bath towel for 2 people. I don't recommended it at all

Very basic bed uncomfortable, mattress seen better days. It felt like a hostel for the homeless. Thank goodness it just one night !

I got exactly what I expected. If people didn’t expect more than they pay for the reviews wouldn’t be so bad! Its close to the station, 1 stop from southend central. Beach is at the bottom of the road. I paid 80 for 2 nights and got a clean single room with working tv, free workinG wifi and tea facilities. Theres a fridge and a microwave but no cutlery probably cos people thieve them so bring your own. There’s lots to eat nearby including cobham lodge 2 roads down who do brekky 4 a 10er. What I liked was getting my own room and front door key to come and go as i pleased. Shower was lovely and hot, perfect after a day of sunbathing at local beaches. The staff guy was friendly, polite and helpful. Thanks Welbeck I’d defo stay again next time I visit Southend 🙌🏾

I've booked this hotel at the very last minute (just for 1night)as I was too tired to drive home.After reading reviews I was expecting mice running over me and room in the cellar with Freddie Kruger in the corner.. The room I got was big and spacious, everything was clean and kettle /teas/coffee as a complimentary was a definitely a plus, big TV worked absolutely fine. Receptionist was very kind and give me all information I needed.This place is old but if you need somewhere cheap to stay I would recommend it.

Exceptional value, ideally situated for all tastes. Not dog friendly but definitely cater s for couples, singletons, and absolutely spotlessly clean. Don t take my word for it give it a whirl. I highly recommend this hotel, thank you Dan(manager)

This is more of a hostel than a hotel. Light pull to bathroom so dirty, I left the light on so I didn't have to touch it again. The ensuit left a lot to be desired. Used it as little as possible. The only way to describe this place is "dated and dirty" Would have walked out had I the time to organise another place

Hi, our one night stop last night was not without some minor irritataions; - Bathroom door handle/lock do not work, If you close the door it's very difficult to get out. - Bathroom light over mirror does not work. - Bed mattress more akin to a trampoline. The positives were a very good shower, good bedclothes, hot radiator, good wifi and simple registration/keys given over. cheers, John

Absolutely Disgusting hotel shocking service after a 5 hr drive and tried calling 8 times to say I’ll arrive 20 mins past there check in time to be locked out n had to sleep in the van then check in to a room which was disgusting and staff was so rude Wen I asked for a refund to be told if u don’t like the room tuff u have paid now there is the door 😡😡😡😡

It’s a shame because the staff are friendly, the area is very ruff at night. When your in your room at night you can Hear doors banging people coming up and down the stairs. I can definitely see why it’s a 2 star. It’s a shame as I said because the staff are friendly rooms are kept fairly clean just everything seems to be broken.

Dilapidated building in poor state of repair, worn carpet, stained and damaged furniture, smelly! I had a 3 night stay, police dealing with a resident on my return on night 2 and awoken by the sound of a couple in the throes of passion on day 3.. AVOID!

Ok Hotel Fitted all our needs. Close to a week's worth of jobs. First night of a 3 night stay water poured through the electric smoke alarm so I enformed reception. 2nd night the same happened and I was told it was the room above having a shower and not closing the curtain. 3rd night same again. It was within 18" of my bed and smelt of drains but no offer of another room or partial refund for the inconvenience. I had to put a bin under it to catch the water (see pics) and at £50 a night I shouldn't have to put up with that. Also dirty radiators and bathroom. WONT be staying again and I recommend you refuse room 5 if you stay here.
