Had two lunchtime meals, food was fantastic, cooked to order, friendly staff and most welcoming, beautiful area, highly recommend, especially scampi and chips and the burger, very good portions and nicely presented. Dogs welcome.

A quaint part of the world with amazing hosts, lovey locals. Food and drink at this gem are top quality for such a reasonable price. Great walks, and scenery at every turn. Highly recommend the Postgate inn. Thanks for having us and we look forward to our next visit.

Had an amazing meal here with my wife. Such great service,friendly,attentive and made our visit most enjoyable. We even had the chef sit with us and talk us through the recipe to my delicious meal which made our experience even more enjoyable. Would highly recommend.

Wow what a find we have been for Sunday lunch today the food was excellent the service friendly and the staff fabulous. This was our first time but won't be out last everyone was great from the barman to the chef. Definitely 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The menu here is not really for vegetarians but if you are a meat lover, you can tell every dish is made from high quality ingredients !

Stopped by with my family, had belly pork, scampi and chicken all were superb. Excellent food, very friendly staff and good to see two good real ales on cask. Will definitely be back. Lovely dessert as well!

The most marvellous food and welcome from the team, chef is a jewel in the north York’s inn. Would recommend this for lunch and dinner, both perfectly served, would love to try the b&b one day!

We visited this pub for lunch and it was so lovely we went back a second time. The fish n chips was a lot nicer than the meal we had in Whitby! We also had scampi and chips, lovely quality and really crispy chips plentiful too. Served with a gorgeous side salad and mushy peas. We all loved our desserts too. Highly recommend.

This is are second visit 12mths apart. First time we shared a ploughman's lunch. Fantastic flavours of cheese & home made chuckney. We Went the other evening & had chicken supreme of the specials board. It was in a red wine gravy sauce with chicken liver pate & mixed veg in a separate dish. It was mega, the taste/flavours were superb. For afters we shared a cheese board, very good, not a scrap left on are plates. Shame it's not closer as we from away. The last time we came on the train 20 mins from whitby. The food price for what you get quality wise, I think is fair. I never had any beer/larger so couldn't comment. We would definitely go again & forget to mention the staff we're great.

All the staff were friendly and attentive, the food is on the expensive side which I feel IS justified considering the quality, however £6.80 for a pint is extortionate (speaking as a local) - what let the experience down for us (through no fault of the restaurant) was some rather strange locals staring us down, you could feel their eyes burning on us!! , not even looking away when I made eye contact with them!! For this reason me and my partner decided to move outside as it was very off putting and frankly bizarre. For this reason we won’t be returning which is a shame. Very very strange behaviour.

The food menu wasn't to my liking but if you like fish it's for you ,Prices for a meal started at about £22 to £35 . No Burgers , no stake and ale pie ,no chips, pretty limited for me.

Never stayed or ate - we stopped for pint while walking the Eskdale trail. Being nosey, I did scope out other people's meals and they looked and smelled lovely. The fact that many people were eating on Tuesday lunchtime must speak for its quality. The pub is a really lovely Yorkshire countryside pub. - the manager (owner?) who served me was very friendly. I'll definitely visit for a meal.

We only had a meal so cannot comment on the rooms. After our 1st visit 1 Yr ago, we have been desperate to return. I've yet to enjoy a meal as much and had the same on both occasions. The food is top notch and the ambience relaxing. This is a great place and worth o er 1hr drive just for a meal!!!

We recently stopped by the Postgate Inn for dinner and a few drinks, and it was a wonderful experience. Andy, the host, was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely beautiful—delicious and well-prepared. The inn itself is a charming country pub with a lovely, cozy atmosphere.
