Beautiful and peaceful highland hotel. Very cosy atmosphere. Gorgeous, extensive grounds. Dog friendly. We have been four times and love it.

Beautiful stay for a few days spotless room, amazed how they keep bathrooms so mould free. Shower gel and hand soap smelt amazing. Breakfast was very generous continental but the ham and hard boiled eggs were a great treat. Evening meals were delicious and bar well stocked with a roaring fire 🔥. Will definitely be back. Walk to balleter was lovely with a stop off at the cheese and milk hoose cafe on way back 😋. Followed by beautiful sunshine and a swinging chair with plenty of seating. We'll done so friendly too.

Great staff, hotel and location. Stay as often as possible. Food is excellent! The owners are welcoming, friendly and professional. They have a family, pet friendly, beautiful property. Third stay, Excellent! Highly appreciated the effort and results of this family owned and operated authentic 1870s Victorian hotel. My son stayed in the kennel (an independent cottage) complete with period art, wood stove and electric cooking facilities. The best of both worlds. Walled garden is simply beautiful and right outside your door. I have traveled the world and found this magical. It's Scotland, so expect the weather to change, and umbrellas are provided. Enjoy!

We have just left a two night stay and it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Friendly and attentive staff, beautiful location, lovely food and clean comfortable room. We loved being able to see so many red squirrels from the outdoor terrace. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, highly recommended.

During our tour of Scotland we stayed one night in this beautiful hotel, located in beautiful surroundings. The room was an experience in itself, beautifully decorated in (Victorian) style, with a view of the beautiful flower garden. Everything spotlessly clean, wonderful beds, and a small but excellent bathroom. In the afternoon we took a walk in the area of ​​the River Dee. We understand why Queen Elizabeth loved staying at Balmoral Castle! We also had a very tasty meal in the hotel in the evening and the breakfast the next morning was also excellent. We highly recommend this hotel from start to finish!

It might be a little 'faded around the edges' and I get that we all expect more these days, but I like this place - excellent location just outside Ballater (mind the entrance turn!!) with a really cosy feel and friendly staff - must check out tge suspension bridge over tge Dee with the Riverside walk- would definitely come back 😁👍

Verrassende ligging met prachtige uitstraling. Veel authentieke spullen van oorspronkelijke bewoners. Down-to-earth-sfeer, erg leuke bediening (kan natuurlijk per jaar verschillen). Betaalbaar genieten in onbevangen sfeer.

Wonderful, dog-friendly small hotel (the type you wish still existed!) on the beach she if the Muir of Dinnet NNR. The single room was so nice, the welcome so good, the food so filling, I changed my plans and stayed 2 nights instead of the one originally intended. Opposite the hotel is the Cambus O May suspension bridge, giving access across the River Dee to the ancient Torphantrick Wood (bear East to see the older wood, the part by the river is all plantation). Take great care when driving out of the hotel entrance as this is a very fast road and there is almost no visibility to the right (despite the mirror opposite). I’d recommend turning left then immediately right into a small hidden car park next to the old Cambus O May railway station.

Spent a couple of nights at the Cambus O'May hotel with the family + dog. Excellent place, highly recommended.

Love the place. Hotel is a listed property that dates back to the 1800's but is very well maintained and is comfortable. Close to Balmoral Castle, Ballater town and a short drive to Glenshee. Also has a really sweet Papillon, very friendly dog. Would definitely stay here on our next visit too!

We had booked The Cambus o'may hotel for a 1 night stay. We arrived to be told there was no chef but they could russle up some food. We were shown up to our room a double plus we had 2 dogs. The room had no heating on & was tiny. The bed & bedding was something out of the 18hundreds! The curtains were closed & when I opened them they were wet & the window was black with mould. We made our excuses & left never to return!

We have just returned from a one night stay, can’t fault it! We arrived early and was shown to our beautifully clean room with Mountain Views! Everything you would want at a very very reasonable cost! We went for a walk over the bridge and for a mile or so, cold and just what we wanted, arrived back and was served drinks (although the bar didn’t open till later) and the fire was lit for us! Dinner was very tasty and again at a very reasonable cost, three courses wjth beer and wine for under £100! The room was quiet and very roomy. Staff were attentive and friendly! Breakfast wasn’t cooked but that is fine, as much croissants, toast, cereals, etc as we wanted! All in all is highly recommend and we will be back! Thanks

Loved the setting and our room. The building and the grounds are beautiful. We were there 2 nights and enjoyed the relaxed vibe and cozy fireplace in the bar. The staff were wonderful, and very helpful when I had a special request. The owner was onsite and it was clear that he loves the place and wants to create something that others love also.
