Das Restaurant Martin Wishart wurde 1999 im historischen Hafenviertel Leith in Edinburgh eröffnet und hat sich seitdem als feste Größe in der schottischen Gastronomieszene etabliert. Bereits 2001 erhielt es seinen ersten Michelin-Stern, den es bis heute erfolgreich verteidigt.

Unter der Leitung von Martin Wishart bietet das Restaurant eine moderne europäische Küche, die klassische französische Techniken mit den besten schottischen Zutaten verbindet. Die Speisekarte wechselt regelmäßig, um die frischesten saisonalen Produkte zu präsentieren.

The winter menu was delicious: every single dish was fabulous and several were truly memorable. The staff were very genuine, helpful and attentive. This experience was definitely worth the money.

The food was the star. From canapés to desert, everything was well prepared with great flavours and presentation. The food service staff were great. If you love wine, this may not be your restaurant. The food menu was GBP185 per person and the prestige wine paring was GBP200 per person. Two of our four pours of Rhone white wine had so significant tartrate crystals, from a bottom of bottle pour, that the wine was unappealing. One wine came out with a different glass shape for one guest. The 2016 Chateau Talbot was another bottom of the bottle pour with significant sediment in the glass. The Somellier gave significant resistance to correcting the wine issues. I would recommend this restaurant for the food but not if you would like to have wine with your dinner.

Had a table of 8 for lunch on a Friday. Absolutely excellent 3 course lunch menu. Firstly the amouse bouch came as 5bite size portions followed by bread. The scallops was excellent starter dish. The mains of monkish again excellent . The passionfruit creme brulle and the blackberries sorbet with white creme was Also Excellent. Service was excellent. We had a bottle of the Gosset champagne and Sancerre which was a mark up of x3.

Out first visit to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We celebrated my wife's ## birthday there recently. We had the four course rather than the tasting menu and were delighted. The smoked lobster was an absolute triumph The food is excellent as is the service It is not cheap by any means but for a real treat or special occasion it fits the bill. My wife commented that it was perhaps the best meal that she had ever had.

We had the 25th anniversary menu and everything was excellent! We have been a few times and this place doesn't disappoint, amazing food and wine, great service and nice atmosphere. Why they haven't made it to 2 star I have no idea (and it far exceeds a 3 star we visited elsewhere in the UK recently)

I was treated to a beautiful birthday dinner here. The horseradish amuse-bouche was incredible. One to remember. The meat was beautifully cooked. Staff were lovely. A memorable evening.

Stunning menu and service, easily the best restaurant in Edinburgh. I’m surprised it doesn’t have an additional star, definitely felt more like 2 star than a 1. Every course was prepared perfectly and explained eloquently. The wine list is excellent as well.

Amazing service, fun and innovative food. We went for lunch and were treated to a memorable meal. We each chose a different prix fixe menu, and they accommodated our group's allergies and preferences. We all thought the dishes were creative and delighted in each bite.

The most unaccommodating and rude staff. Do not eat here, they do not deserve their Michelin star simply for the reason of having a rude and disrespectful staff. Save your money and go anywhere else. Far better food and diverse menu at other establishments like Cote, Number One, and The Kitchin.

Have been here before and loved first time and ok second time! Great location definitely… welcome good.. but slow after that to be honest. Food was good but not fabulous..wine flight good and one was spectacular. For over £400 for the food and wine flight ( plus the 2 extra wines each because wine was meagre)! I suggest Fishers for meal and ocean mist for drinks/ cocktails. Sorry Martin wishart😢

One of the best meals we've had. We were visiting Edinburgh and booked ahead for their lunch menu, which is very reasonably priced for the quality. We were treated to several amuse bouchés before our main meal which we weren't expecting, and these were delicious and very well thought out. The starter of scallop squid ink risotto was exquisite - definitely my favourite course. The halibut was perfectly cooked. The dessert of dulcey chocolate cremeux tart was an absolute triumph. The staff went the extra mile to make sure we're looked after (including offering us more bread to mop up the delicious butter and accompaniments). All in all a spectacular meal!

Unquestionably one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Contacted the restaurant with a couple of weeks notice to see if they could do a vegan menu and what they did was incredible. Probably one of the best things I've ever eaten was the pasta dish with morels. The tasting menu and the wine pairings are just on another level. This is for a really special occasion and the staff were wonderful. Thank you so much!
