Burns House Museum

The Robert Burns House Museum in Mauchline, Scotland, is dedicated to the life and works of the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns. Mauchline is a significant location in Burns' life, as he lived there from 1784 to 1788. During this period, he wrote many of his famous poems and songs. The museum is housed in what was once the home of Gavin Hamilton, a friend of Burns, where the poet often stayed. The exhibits provide insight into Burns' life, showcasing manuscripts, letters, and other personal items. The museum also highlights the history and culture of the period, giving visitors a sense of the environment in which Burns lived and worked. This was an unexpected find, but glad we called in. A small museum but very well set out and very informative. If you are driving through Mauchlin flow the signs to the car park then there is a 5 minutes walk back up to the main street through very interesting alleys. The whole stop could be less than an hour, but it would be an hour well spent.

I gave this place 4 stars even though I'm disabled and couldn't go in, my wife went in and videod it for me. It's easy for the trustees to say it's an old building so can't be made disabled friendly. Sorry guys make a DVD and sell it, you would be quid in and make money
