The hotel is very dated. Do not expect your bed made daily or towels to be changed became it won't happen. The rooms are boiling hot but the rest of the hotel is cold. If you want a shower at the same time as other people unlucky...no hot water comes out of the taps. The beds have the oldest and cheapest mattresses and you'll be greatfull to check out and head home after a night here. Unfortunately, due to work commitments I had to stay two nights.
The service in the restaurant is good and the food is cheap, so I can't complain there. Breakfast however, is not served at a time anyone could make use of if they need to be at work.
Would not recommend or return. Thoroughly disappointed and felt ripped of by the inflated prices on booking.com.

Well, £5.25 a pint really took the taste out of that beer. Not one to complain about price but after a hard day's work and you coughing up a meal deal for a pint. I dunno. Seems a little excessive.

What can I say. The ty Newydd Country Hotel is a must to get married. I can say 100% jemma and her team go the extra mile.
Getting married is a stressful time. And I went in to the wedding planning not knowing a thing. It ain't all about just getting that pretty white dress. This is where jemma came in. She give me 100% of her time. Explaining to me step by step. Down to the flowers and when to book things. Jemma had all the time for me. Even when I was a little diva and I was at one point haha! again jemma Explained and now I truly can say and feel that I made a friend for life in jemma.
The day went brilliantly. Couldn't ask for anymore. The morning of the wedding Even getting make up done jemma made sure I was calm and had what I wanted. Jemma noticed that i was becaming stressed and she Even stopped the make up half way through taking me out the back for a little cig for me to have 5 min to myself. Unfortunately on my wedding day the weather wasn't to great but again the hotel was very good. Having pictures inside and lthan they would let us know when the rain calmed down so we could run out to have a few pictures. But rain on the wedding is good luck they say xxxx
Before walking down. She made sure I was comfortable. The food and drink was beautiful.
The day run smoothly. Jemma was at hand and everything we planed went down well.
I can't say enough about this girl and her team. The whole hotel staff are just outstanding.
Love you all.

We went for the Christmas lunch for our wedding anniversary and were very disappointed. Our prawn cocktail starter came with a bread roll which was so hard we couldn't get our teeth into it. The turkey was a bit tough and the gravy, which the plate was swimming in, was gloopy and tasteless. Dessert was ok but we won't be eating here again

Visited recently for food with large group of friends. Rather disappointed with the food and service. The presentation, quantity and quality of the food was awful. No condiments on the table or given with dinner I.e horseradish, cranberry. Vegetables were cold. The service from some of the staff was disgraceful, being rudely spoken too and nearly throwing a dessert over someone. The presentation is some staff was poor too dirty nails (whisky serving is food and drinks !)
I want to support local so please look at reviewing your standards.

A hotel which thinks it is special but it requires major renovation work in the buildings and associated equipment within the roads and car park needed to be resurfaced totally they need to review their hotel information as no grounds to be walked around as surrounded by barbed wire fencing from farms I unfortunately would not recommend the hotel but the local area of the Brecon Beacons is stunning and worth seeing. Find another venue to stay at

Went to Ty Newydd today (02/11/2024) for a 'sparkling' afternoon tea booked via Groupon. It more than exceeded expectations - would thoroughly recommend. Special thanks to Connor (who served us) nothing was too much trouble for him 🤗.

I booked an afternoon tea with buy a gift as a gift for my wife and daughter which I ended up tagging along (I do love cake and sandwiches). The Ty Newydd is set amongst the trees in an idyllic part of the country.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The afternoon tea had plenty of choice from sandwiches, pasties, sausages rolls, crisps, scones and a few other bits.

We enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch here on Sunday, the hotel settings are stunning, such a beautiful area.
Loads of parking , beautiful grounds, great for photographs, especially weddings!!
We were warmly welcomed by reception and shown to our table, good choice of menu and separate children’s menu available even on Sunday.
The carvery was delicious, good selection of meats and veg to choose from, all served pipping hot.
The restaurant staff were all friendly and efficient.
I would recommend it here and will definitely be returning.

It was supposed to be luxury hotel and fine dining, it was not. The room was freezing,we had to ask for a heater. The furniture was scratched and battered. The food was very basic.

Our coffee machine only works part time!
We stayed here for 3 days as part of a family holiday.
The Good
- Location is peaceful
- Room size is very generous
- Friendly staff
- Bathtub is good size with plenty of hot water.
The Bad
- The ghost of COVID past remains. Signs still everywhere and many management aspects remain for cost and resource cutting purposes.
- Dining menu is very basic and biased towards easy, fast, greasy meals.
- Management: left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Often giving misleading information (e.g., we cannot provide shower gel only soap bars due to regulations. However, there is shower gel in the bathrooms).
The Ugly
- Overpriced and not value for money. Better off staying at the Premier Inn for less and get better breakfast (with coffee).
- The whole place looks tired and needs refurbishment.
- Staff are poorly trained with regard to hygiene. Every day I observed one member of staff (in the dining area) cough into their hand and then handle food. Food hygiene standards are terrible.
- Pathetic excuse for not offering a proper coffee (i.e, instead of granules). The reason being that the coffee machine only gets turned on after 9:30am. Just be honest and tell Customers it's difficult to manage and maintain due to costs. I am sure many would be happy to pay for a fresh coffee rather than take a trip to Tesco for a brew.
- Bathroom is like a swimming pool after the shower is used. Very poor preventative maintenance and I suspect no one really cares.
- Extremely bad practices regarding carbon footprint and environmental management (e.g., I was told I could not bring rubbish from the car and put in our room bin as it would cause problems with recycling).
- They don't appear to take on board any feedback for continuous improvement. Even responses on TripAdvisor have very little feedback.
In conclusion
Ok for a night. If you need to stay longer, try other places who could offer more for the same and maybe even less cost.

AVOID, AVOID AVOID. Myself and family attended a wedding at the venue. My son has a severe nut allergy of which they were told beforehand. They tried to serve my son Profiaroles which the waitress said "CONTAINED traces of nuts but not wholenuts" even after we told them he had a nut allergy. They were made aware of the nut allergy well in advanced by the bride. We also made them aware before every course. We are absolutely fuming to now learn that he was served a beef dinner that may contain nuts even after being told that my son had a nut allergy before every course. They do not take allergies seriously. They had no alternative to the evening buffet as this also contained nuts. We had to give our son jam on toast after being offered honey nut cornflakes, again my son has a nut allergy. Not at any point was we made aware that they are not capable of catering for a child with a nut allergy. May contain nuts is the same as contains nuts to someone with a severe nut allergy. If your child, has any allergy AVOID AVOID AVOID.

During our visit to the hotel as guests of a wedding our child with a severe tree nut allergy was served profiteroles containing nuts. The venue was told that the child with a severe tree nut allergy would be dining prior to the event. When the child was served the profiteroles, the child's dad asked the server if the profiteroles were nut free, the server went to the kitchen to check. When the server returned they said 'the profiteroles contained traces and fragments of nuts but no whole nuts, so it should be ok'. Luckily the child had not eaten any. I (the child's mother) then spoke to one of the directors of the venue, who acknowledged they were aware of the child's tree nut allergy, but said the bride had said 'it would be fine' and therfore knowingly oversaw the serving of profiteroles with traces of nuts, to a child with a severe tree nut allergy. The director showed little concern and no understanding of the implications of serving allergens to guests with allergies. Had our son eaten the profiteroles he likely would have had an anaphylactic reaction, which could have been fatal.
Shortly after explaining to staff that our son was allergic to the profiteroles, he was served the profiteroles for a second time, before we asked they be taken away.
Later at the evening buffet, a sign was put up to say the all the buffet food contained nuts. No alternative food was offered for our five year old.
To put our son at risk in this way, after being given prior notice of his tree nut allergy was negligent and unforgivable.

Stayed here while we visited the Penderyn Distillery just up the road. Lovely building and location. On arrival staff were very friendly and helpful. We were late to dinner after a long 3 hour drive but the restaurant staff were most accommodating. Rooms are not modern but in keeping with the character of the building. We had a nice big room at one far end of the hotel, the furthest away possible from a loud music event which was appreciated. Breakfast was nice and easy. Woukd definitely stay again of in the area!
