See all the colloquial building styles from across wales and enjoy a wartime pint at the Vulcan.

I like the pay to park and then it is free entry. That is really good for families. It was quite busy. It is very similar in philosophy to the Weald and Downland Museum in Sussex. I enjoyed the row of cottages fitted out in different eras.

Had a really great visit plenty to see and do . Some staff especially one man called glyn had plenty of knowledge and made the experience interesting, some other staff not interested in interacting with people. Shame when I visited the church there was a staff sitting in the corner on a chair I went over and asked a question and he interacted but other than that they kept to themselves.

As for me, always great. Every time some interesting exhibitions inside the building, and outside for children it's a paradise. History, nature and fun.

This heritage museum has had a few additions over the past ten years or so including the latest celebrated old Cardiff pub, The Vulcan, complete with sawdust on the floor of the front bar area, minus the spittoons though which were popular in many public houses in the 1950’s, 60’s and early 70’s that were in the central city area. The exhibitions both around the site and the indoor museum are testament to the changing nature of Welsh cultural heritage and long may this venue continue. With still plenty of space for the expansion of projects within the site the only thing it needs is a significant injection of cash, that and perhaps a shift of focus to recognising the industrial legacy that Wales once had. Specific exhibitions covering mining and steel making may add a new dimension to the experience.

A VERY busy St David's Day in sunshine, but plenty of space and fun for all. A great day out.
