Glad I stumbled across this restaurant on my last Snowdonia trip! The level of service and food vs the price point was a welcome surprise, perhaps pretty exceptional.
I booked a month ahead using their website for new years eve. I was really impressed with both the food and all members of the staff.

Lovely atmosphere, welcoming and warm. Super friendly staff, happy to help with any dietary needs. Really really delicious vegan options, the chef was very eager to edit dishes to be vegan if necessary. The risotto was amazing!

What can I say…. This has got to be one of the best restaurants I have eaten in in a very long time. From the moment we walked in, we were met with a very warm welcome and immediately shown to our table. The menu offered so much variety it was difficult to choose, there were even specials. We were a party of four, every course was perfectly presented and tasted delicious. I’m not one for puddings but 3 of us couldn’t resist, we weren’t disappointed. My only complaint…. I wish this restaurant was on my doorstep, but on the other hand having my own restaurant I wouldn’t like the competition…. Booking is highly advised as understandably they are very busy.

Decent food nicely served. My only criticism is that I'd like more choice of wine by the glass..
December 2024. The wine list is much improved and the front of house excellently conducted.
Food is still very good too.

I booked into my room earlier & also reserved a table for this evening. Wow, amazing room, clean, comfortable & spacious.
Food this evening was amazing, a great job from the chefs, cheers. The front of house staff were equally friendly, professional, and knowledgeable 12 out of 10 for these guys. I hope my tip reflected my sheer delight i experienced at an amazing three courses and a bottle of shiraz.

We didn’t stay. But had dinner there. Lovely food. Great staff and nice atmosphere. Food was locally sourced. Black pudding the Best ever. Would recommend and nice for a treat

the food in the restaurant was quite good, not amazing but also not awful.
a bit pricey considering the quality.
but the service was awful.
the young adults that were in charge of serving and front of house were awful.
some of the worst service i’ve experienced and it let the food down.
it felt a lacking in training, so maybe not their fault, but also not ours.
we won’t be going back.

We chanced upon this restaurant for an evening meal as everywhere else was too busy, but what a piece of luck as it was excellent food in a lovely calm and relaxed atmosphere.
Menu choice and service was great, a little more expensive than others but this was reflected in the quality of the food and so well worth the outlay.

Had a fantastic Sunday evening meal, made the booking for the Tuesday before dessert had arrived! Service and food exemplary on both occasions, booking is a must though, saw lots of people trying for a walk in table only to be turned away, wish were staying longer in Porthmadog so we could have a third meal!

Delightful staff and the accommodation was comfortable. We had dinner here the night we arrived and the food was nothing short of delicious. Staff were really friendly from the second we arrived to when we left. The room was clean and a good size. We booked as we were visiting Portmeirion and the drive was a short 10 minutes so more than ideal! Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of booking here.

We had the best stay! We all had bikes and were made to feel very welcome with our bikes. They were locked away safe and we got to enjoy a wonderful stay. The food was incredible (dinner and breakfast) and the rooms were tidy and comfy. A perfect stay!

We stayed here at the end of the Llyn Path walk, and we were very well looked after.
Dinner in the restaurant was fabulous, and the team served up good food, wine and atmosphere. We had nice starters, some great fish, and managed a pudding between us!
The rooms were comfortable, and the breakfast set us up for the day.

Sadly this was not what we had hoped for a special occasion celebrating a family member’s 80th. We tried to be helpful by ordering in advance. On arrival, they wanted to immediately serve the starters before our full party had arrived. The waitresses were not welcoming, and did not offer to take a photo when we were trying to capture us all together. They seemed to want to get the whole meal finished as soon as possible, with not much gap in between anything. Most of the party were happy with their meals apart from the pork dishes, which they felt had been cooked in advance and waiting to go out. One guest had difficulty in trying to pay separately, it was not as if we were all trying to pay separately. Only the one who wasn’t a family member. I wouldn’t have thought this would have been so hard to figure out ! Sadly very disappointed by the whole thing.

I can't comment on the rooms as I never stayed, but I did have the most delicious meal with my partner. It's the second time we've been whilst on holiday and it didn't disappoint. Great menu with lots of choice, and the food was amazing. I'd 100% recommend the lamb and the gin & tonic cheesecake, delicious. Would highly recommend a visit if you're ever in Porthmadog, but make sure you prebook as they're very busy and usually full.

We went to Yr Hen Fecws in April 2024 and had a fabulous meal. We started with a starter of goat cheese croquette to share and it was mouth watering and generous enough to be able to share. Then we had mains of Duo of Duck and lamb rack. The duck was so tender, with tasty gravy and sauce, a potato starch better than any I have had and tasty flavour some carrots. The lamb rack was served already divided into individuals. Again cooked to perfection, the same potato stack and broccoli and spinach which were also lovely. They both were complete meals in themselves. The overall price was quite reason for such high quality.

Cleanliness attention to detail not spot on, signs of dust and hair found on the bed and sink.
No body wash as far as we were aware but shampoo and conditioner provided.
Decor in room a little tired, paint needs touching up in places, all you need to know book could do with replacing.
Bed on the smaller side, probably more of a small double than a double.. pillows need to be firmer maybe a personal preference but I think many would agree as there was no reinforcement when laying head down.
Lamp on side table could do with a button on cable instead of up inside the top of the lamp as it’s awkward trying to reach it.
Toothbrush holder nice touch as well as preordering breakfast night before - maybe not to everyone’s taste because at first I wasn’t too sure but I actually enjoyed it.
Lady serving breakfast is attentive, loves her job and never complains. Porridge is 5*’s nice and thick, tasty and filling.
The sausages are also a must to eat for breakfast, they taste locally sourced and light.
The door to get into the accommodation building is a bit of a nightmare, it’s a bit of a struggle opening it. Room 5 can get quite hot and so the windows need to be opened but as there is a pub next door many of the pub goers are outside talking loudly, drunk and smoking which can mean you have to shut the windows to keep out the smoke.
Rooms next door are heard as when they use any water facilities this makes a sound through the room.
Hotel is close to railway, maritime museum, petrol garage and high street.
Would not recommend the pub next door not related to this establishment as went on the first night and believe I may have got food poisoning.

This restaurant serves some of the best food I have had in many a long year. Staff are extremely attentive and make the whole experience run so smoothly. You will have to book, but it's well worth it. We found prices to be perfectly acceptable and the chef is so good at his job. 5 stars all round.

Just left the restaurant. Really good food. Scallops with cauliflower puree, black pudding and belly pork. Followed by duck cooked really well, carrots, crispy parsnips and potato dauphinoise.
