The Museo Giuseppe Gianetti in Saronno, Lombardy, is a significant center for ceramic art, presenting an extensive collection of porcelain, majolica, and ceramics from different periods. The collection includes over 200 pieces of Meissen porcelain, which form the main part of the museum, as well as other collections of oriental porcelain, Italian and European majolica, and porcelain. This diversity makes the museum one of the most important of its kind in Italy and Europe.
The museum is located in Villa Biffi, a building from the 1940s that once belonged to the sisters of Nina Biffi, the wife of Giuseppe Gianetti. The villa preserves its original elements such as parquet floors, marble elements, stairs, window frames, furniture, paintings, mirrors, Murano glass chandeliers, and bathroom fixtures. Particularly noteworthy is the staircase handrail design, which was designed by Carla Biffi, one of the sisters.
In addition to the permanent collection, the museum regularly organizes events, workshops, and exhibitions focusing on various aspects of ceramic art and history. It also offers educational programs to promote understanding and appreciation of ceramics and related art forms.
