Museo Civico Cappella della Pietà a Reano (TO)
Museum | Reano | Piemonte | Italy
The Museo Civico Cappella della Pietà in Reano, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Piedmont region of Italy, is a cultural center housed in the historic Cappella della Madonna della Pietà. This chapel was expanded in 1844 in the neoclassical style by the Princes of Cisterna, who were feudal lords of Reano from 1561 to 1864. They used the chapel as their family tomb and later handed it over to the community. Inside the chapel, there are works by late Renaissance Tuscan painters of the 16th century belonging to the school of Bronzino, as well as a tomb with two marble statues by the sculptor Vincenzo Vela. Since January 2020, the chapel is accessible to the public as a museum.
