Geological Museum of the Dolomites:
Collections and Exhibitions: The museum has over 12,000 exhibits, including the largest collection of invertebrate fossils from the Middle Triassic in Italy. The exhibitions are thematically organized and provide a comprehensive overview of the geological evolution of the Dolomites.
Highlights: Particularly noteworthy is the replica of a historical hotel room from the Hotel "Nave d'Oro," which served as a center for scientific and geological studies in the 19th century. This exhibition gives a vivid impression of the scientific atmosphere of that time.
Outdoor Exhibition: The "Dos Capèl Geological Path" is an educational hiking trail that starts from Pampeago and circles around Mount Dos Capèl. Along the way, there are 32 stations with information panels that offer insights into the geological composition of the area.
Opening Hours and Admission: The museum is open from October to May, Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. From June to September, it is open Tuesday to Sunday at the same times, with daily openings in August. The admission fee is €5, reduced to €4. Family tickets are also available.
