I'm not usually one for reviews but after seeing some of the negative reviews, I feel I need to leap to the oakmere's defense. I have stayed here quite a few times now as my head office is close by to the hotel this is pound for pound a superb hotel, the staff are always friendly the food is always great and the rooms are exceptional, the negative reviews are a bit odd. Perhaps they were expecting the Ritz or Savoy?? if you want warm comfy rooms with a very nice restaurant for sub £130 then you wont get better and I travel a lot, i have paid this much for a premier Inn before and that doesn't get you much!

Lovely rural setting and great looking restaurant but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Crab cakes had barely any crab meat and had a mushy filling, mixed grill with overdone unseasoned meat. The scallops were excellent though.

New Years Eve what a night. Food was amazing hospitality was great. The marquee looked fabulous and warm on a very windy evening. Thanks to all the staff especially Nacey our waitress. Not forgetting the DJ that kept us all up dancing. Happy New Year to you all and thank you. X.

Rooms have lots of character but can be annoying or frustrating. E.g. dimmer lights that randomly start flickering and don't stop or jacuzzi bath with no shower... but parts in the bath hurt. Or Sky TV box mounted in a difficult position to get a remote signal. Restaurant is really good but reception is only manned by breakfast staff. So forget getting items resolved on your bill as staff can't resolve until later in the day. It would also be nice if they checked if everything was okay with the room, too.

Having visited and enjoyed lunch in the bar, several times before, particularly the tapas menu we booked a table for lunch for my birthday. The bar was busy when we arrived and it took a while for the staff to acknowledge us. We ordered 6 plates from the menu, some of which we had enjoyed previously. I am afraid the food was not up to their usual standard. We felt the food was bland,not enough sauce on the chicken wings (smaller wings) the chipolatas were dry and tasteless and the crab cakes lacking in crab. It is a shame as the pub is warm and cosy and has a lovely atmosphere . I have recommended The Oaksmere to friends in the past but would not do so again. I wondered if it was because this time we went on a weekend!!!

Stayed here over night on a work trip and had a work dinner. The receptionist was lovely when I checked in and showed me to my room. Room was nice and spacious and I will recommend room 5 it’s to die for. The meal was even more exceptional I had the mixed grill and my work colleague had a mussels, Clams and king prawn tagliatelle Mixed Grill - 4/5 it was delicious Rated Tagliatelle - 4/5 The atmosphere was lovely in the restaurant. The room was amazing and comfortable and warm and there is sky in the room as well for sports and movie lovers for a nice unwind. Only down fall was no shower but the tub was ok. I would recommend a stay here

Fabulous lunch today with family and friends. Had the tapas. All dishes excellent. Lovely bar area. Staff amazing.

The Oaksmere has to be the best hotel and eatery in the area. Beautifully kept grounds, great staff, nice rooms. I happened to visit on the “Italia Classic Car day”. A great turn out and the sun was shining too.

Lovely grounds excellent food in the evening great staff. We went back next morning for coffee and platlytime for little one and it was totally different staff were moody coffee was Luke warm pastries were ordered but never arrived! Couldn't be bothered to ask again we left!

I had been really looking forward to staying at this hotel after being recommended by colleagues. I arrived around 9:30pm (check in is from 3pm - 11pm) and reception was completely empty (it does say in the that reception is only staffed from 9-6pm so that wasn’t a problem). However, when I walked through to the bar to very politely ask where I should check in (and keep in mind that the bar / restaurant was virtually empty apart from the 3 members of staff behind the bar tidying) I was treated as if I’d done something wrong and me being there was a massive inconvenience. The person who checked me in just marched off in front of me without even a smile or an acknowledgement (‘sorry about that, the reception isn’t staffed at this time so we end up covering both. How was your journey?’ or something similar) and even when when she was checking me she in didn’t make eye contact and just waved me towards my room as she was walking back to the bar. I felt thoroughly unwelcome. The actual hotel, grounds and breakfast the next day were all lovely so it’s such a shame that something which wouldn’t have cost anything tarnished my stay.

What a disappointment! Visited with a family party of 18 after recommendation by a friend. Pre ordered meals and paid £180 deposit as demanded. After waiting nearly an hour, two meals nowhere near as advertised on line. One so dry was sent back . Mine - Barnsley Chop - warm not hot and very fatty. Asparagus way over cooked. NO presentation - chips just slung on the plate. Very young waitresses had no idea how to deal with problems - obvious lack of training - more like frightened rabbits - NOT their fault and no warm welcome from any other of the staff. When approached management with complaints the manner was cold and aloof and my daughter was addressed as "Hun" - NOT a good idea. A small amount was deducted from the bill. If this had been handled better we would have ordered more drinks and desserts x 18 - their loss!! IT IS NOT FAIR THAT THESE VERY YOUNG GIRLS HAD TO FACE IRATE CUSTOMERS DUE TO MANAGEMENT SHORT COMMINGS - TRAIN YOUR STAFF PROPERLY. Will never set foot in here again

No welcome or greeting on entrance . One meal was burnt & had to be sent back .several meals had the wrong food on it . The ligthts went down .Nobody came to the table & asked if food was ok service was slow . As we had been recommended we were disappointed .

I challenge anyone to find a better hotel for the money!! Exceptional service, room & food!! I work on the road and have stayed in multiple hotels around this budget, I can say with ease that the Oaksmere sets the bar. Thank you to the team, I look forward to my return ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We were here for to celebrate a family birthday. From the moment we arrived to when we left, the service was excellent, as was the food. Our 1st visit, but definitely NOT the last.
