My partner and I had a spa day, then decided to stay for the evening. The spa itself was very small, especially the women’s changing room, which felt cramped with just four of us. It was difficult to get dressed, as there was only one toilet, three showers, and half the lockers didn’t even work. Our spa time was from 10 AM to 1 PM, but we weren’t allowed into our room until after 3 PM. When we finally got to our room, it turned out to be on the spa side, not the hotel side, which was a bit of a letdown. The room was basic, the heating didn’t work, and the mattress was so uncomfortable that both my partner and I woke up with back pain. To top it off, the maid had left the breakfast menu from the previous guest, so we didn’t even get one to fill out ourselves. Overall, we were really disappointed with our stay, especially given the high standards they claim to uphold. We won’t be returning.

As regular guests I feel that the service has certainly dropped considerably over the years, we were so disappointed with our last visit as we had booked the garden brasserie for a celebration meal and were instead hosted in what looked to be a conference room screened off and lacking any of the ambiance a dining venue should have and indeed what we paid for. I’ve been brought back to the site again as I was looking to book our next event, hoping the reviews would be favourable but having looked at the responses from the business to peoples complaints they aren’t addressed at all and are robotic replies that don’t address any of the issues people have listed which makes me think I’ll definitely have to find a new favourite venue.

Took my mum and brother there for their birthday . Have to say had a lovely time . But the best bit was the dinner . I have been to a lot of hotels all over the world and normally food is ok . But this was defo fine dining like experience when it came to dinner. You could tell the chef really thought about the menu items and how they were prepared and served . Was a fantastic experience will be coming aging thanks to Jessie for entertaining my 5 year old sons request also .

Stayed at Orsett Hall this week for a business event and just wanted to leave some feedback. The receptionist on arrival lacked pleasantries, no welcome or friendly smile, more concerned about you logging into the website for the online registration process, this was noted by a number of guests at our event. By contrast the hotel restaurant was excellent, the service and food was 5 star and the food during our conference was also very good! My only other comment was that a vacuum cleaner was left outside of my room 44, it was there when I arrived and was still there the following day, which although had no impact on my stay, just felt wrong for a nice hotel. Would I recommend this hotel, yes, definitely for a business event, hopefully someone will talk to the reception staff to improve the welcome, it truly does matter.

Nice hotel rooms comfortable beds and nice decor (cafe/bar nothing special but wasn't unpleasant) shout out to John who worked there ..he seemed to busy being helpful to guests (including me) constantly...I hope he is valued as much as he should be as if the hotel was my business he'd be my most valued member of staff.

We had my son’s first birthday party in the GOLD room .It was a great day and the event management team were very helpful.Very organised will be doing more birthday parties there .

Booked a last minute spa afternoon for 2 for my husbands birthday (3 days before) Orsett Hall take 100% of the price upfront .Unfortunately the day before (late afternoon)I came down with a sickness bug.I e-mailed them that eve to inform them of this .The next morning I called and left a message on the spa answer phone and emailed again as had not had a reply.!Later on I received an email saying thir policy is you have to give 14 days notice to cancel otherwise they keep all the money! I didnt want to cancel ,but hoped to rebook with maybe a 50% refund .So just want to warn any future clients of this ,no refund policy unless cancelled 2 weeks before date booked!

Weirdest room I'd ever stayed. The design was clearly left to a nutter that didn't have their head on properly. Bed in a weird part of the room, lamp doesn't work, hole in the wall. I'd add pictures but won't let me. Truly the most bizarre stay I'd ever had.

Avoid at all costs!!!! Terrible customer service for such a pretty hotel . We booked to stay over new years for 2 nights paid £460 for the room the bar shut at 9pm and we couldn’t have dinner as there was a New Year’s Eve party celebration we wasn’t told about but they would not let us in the the venue …… the next morning we arrived for breakfast after we pre payed for it as they was busy the lady seating people said sorry we are full so we can’t seat you but you can use our other restaurant but you will need to pay for it I was outraged!! We then tried to use to spa on New Year’s Day as this was the main reason we booked this hotel but it was closed that day and we wasn’t informed. We was woke up at 9am by the cleaners knocking . I asked to speak to a manager but there wasn’t anyone that could do anything until the day we was due to check out . What was supposed to be a lovely chilled happy couple of days turned out to be so stressful and rude . But we was called on the day of checkout by the manager to offer a refund for breakfast how generous of them . Please don’t waste your time here there are much better places to stay for the money that actually respect their guests and do there upmost to accommodate them avoid!!!!!! The least they should have done was give us a night stay so we could enjoy the spa and actually have the breakfast we paid for .

A lovely hotel but was shocked to learn that we had to pay for the spa at £10 p/hr, whereas most spa at hotels come with the spa complimentary and furthermore, it wasn't relayed when booked in, but other than that a lovely stay.

Came here yesterday for Christmas dinner..it was worse Christmas day of my life .the service was disgraceful.two hour wait for my dinner and after three hours no dessert.so my family got up n left...do not book or go this dreadful place ever..

Terrible!! We had heard good things - Maybe it was better last year, such a shame 🥲 A Christmas Day will never forget for the wrong reason - they simply didn’t have enough staff & it wasn’t very Christmassy- we were seated in separate building from the main restaurant. A after thought perhaps? Cheap serviettes & crackers. No one to greet us & we had to wait an hour between courses. My 3 yr old & all the children started running around but the parents didn’t care in the end as it was like a canteen. M&S canteen would have been classier! Many people walked out & the General Manager refused to come & speak to anyone & left without an apology. As someone that works in events & hospitality myself this is really not professional. Also the waitresses & bar staff were told to lie about the staff situation & initially told us people had called in sick however one of them owned up after 3hrs & told us that was untrue & that the management did not hire enough staff. I felt sorry for them as they got a lot of grief, I hope they were paid well for the day as they wouldn’t have got any tips. They needed at least 20 more staff! It was doomed from the offset!! 🥲 We can’t get our day back but hopefully we will have a refund?

We Booked Christmas lunch hoping it would be a magical experience, but from the moment we arrived it was not . It said on our reservation we would need to be here by 12.30 hrs to be seated by 1.00hrs. We arrived my first experience was the entrance , no decorations outside not even a Christmas tree. When we entered the privilion there was no one there to meet or greet us , and the only way we knew where we were seated, there was a table plan, but no "Merry Christmas " . We found our table , but the privilion did not have a Christmas feel. No tree and the wall decorations they did have were not very good. A staff member came to our table and took a drink order . It was 1.00hrs . We then had to wait over a hour before we were served our starter. We then did not get our main course till 3.30hrs . You could tell the other families who were there on this horrible day were also not happy . . We finally got our desert at 4.15hrs and then was rushed with the coffee and mince pies , as i am sure the staff wanted to get home ..The waiting staff : 2 had a uniforms on , but other just had leggings and jumpers on , not fitting for a restaurant environment. Went to speak to the bar staff and she informed as they had shortage of staff . Ask to speak to the manager of the day , but was told he was in the other part of the Orsett hall . There was clearly a staff and organisation issue , but know one came out to speak to us . We paid £100 for that experience, not including drinks . I would advise patient to consider going out for Xmas lunch , and if you are, please read reviews first like this one . Was told if we wanted to complain we should email, which I will to the CEO in the new year . Merry Christmas I hope the CEO one was better then mine

Just had the worst christmas dinner.cold,salty,left without having dessert,the turkey was so dry,beef was tough,would not recommend paying £120 for this mess..........

What an absolute shambles service is disgraceful..two hours wait for Christmas dinner...Kayley behind the bar is is abrupt and said I was rude .that was because I told them the truth about Thier disgraceful service and the amount of time we had to wait after nearly three hours still did not have dessert so we walked out...do not ever go near this place.. complete and utter rubbish.

Would not accept cash for room service. I had to go to the bar to order and carry the food and drinks to the room myself. They also would not accept cash to pay for the room. Felt demeaning and this was a celebration for my anniversary. I wouldn’t let that happen to a customer.

Amazing spa weekend for myself and my partner. Orsett hall is lovely, we stayed one night for spa dinner bed and breakfast. Had a lovely facial and an hours use of spa facilities. Dinner was in the garden brasserie all food was delicious, staff friendly helpful and attentive. Amazing vegan menu which was well appreciated. Room was clean, big and comfortable. Breakfast invtbe morning was fresh and tasty, vegan options such as milk and dairy free butter would be appreciated and maybe a vegan sausage bit what we did have we enjoyed.

Really disappointing evening at Orsett Hall Hotel. Paid for a fully inclusive Xmas dinner and drinks package. But you had set periods where you had to drink wine but no spirits. Spirits from 10pm to midnight. Last orders was called at 1115 pm. There was only 2 bar staff. Mack who worked his socks off and deserves a medal. And a young lady who to quite frank was slow and took for ever. So the inclusive drinks meant queuing for up to 20 mins for a drink. Absolute scam of people being charged for tonic with their gin. I asked for a manager to come and instruct the lady behind the bar that inclusive includes tonic. The manageress eventually bothered to turn up. Before her some 5 foot high security guard was sent round he stood at the bar trying to look menacing but in reality looked like a hobbit. Absolutely not needed and quite a pathetic response from the hotel. In the end the snotty manageress admitted that inclusive drinks meant free mixers. She then told the bar staff to serve everyone else first . Absolutely pathetic behaviour and poor service. So once hotel owners we will never come back. And talking to the other tables neither will they. I’m also going to to add this feedback to every hotel app I have and every feedback app I can find. All in all a really poor evening. Cold food. Poor undercooked breakfast. Cold coffee. Cold staff. A nonentity of a hotel. I do not recommend and I beg you not to chance your arm on holding your wedding here. Room was like something out of the 80’s. Even with air on turned down it was ridiculously hot. Bed was lumpy. No fridge. 0/10.

Traditional vintage English hôtel next to London in the middle of Essex countryside. Bespoke vintage English hôtel rooms, delicious British recipees, professional friendly staffs, good function room & etc.. Highly recommended.

Large company Christmas party. Staff were very friendly. Food for large catering was excellent . Dj kept everyone dancing.

First visit here . Food very well presented and taste Great . not skimpy on amount either. We had breakfast and coffee. Well done to Staff on duty .thank you
