Promising pasta spot with richly saucy dishes, lovely flavours and a great location. What Pastaio lacks is anything to set it apart from every other handmade pasta spot that has sprung up all over London. If your sole goal is to cash grab the tourists of Carnaby St then zero criticism, but the interior is the same as everywhere else and the dishes can be found on a hundred almost identical menus. No niche but not offensive either.
Service was fine but nothing to write home about - kind waiter, but 3 of them idling around with a mere 4 tables and a long wait to order doesn’t calculate well.
Mushroom tagliatelle was well prepared and the wild mushrooms were fantastic, though I note the tagliatelle and the bolognese which promised to use ‘hand cut pappardelle’ were in fact the exact same tagliatelle.
Anyway. Would I return? Not out of burning desire, but if nowhere else had a table, sure.

I'm very old. Well, in comparison to most of the people here, who are very young and beautiful. But the food here isn't just for those with all their body parts pointing up, it's for people who really like pasta. Like me. I like pasta. I like Pastaio. Dunno how to pronounce it mind you.

2022: Lobster linguine for 2 is superb.
Update from 2025: it took almost 3 years to come back. The food is even better 😲

Perfect pasta spot in central london!
I ordered the pork ragu which was delicious, and had that with some refreshing homemade lemonade. I would recommend everyone to order the ice cream, especially the pistachio, which was so so good!
The service was excellent!

Honestly, it was a let down. Food was not enjoyable - it appeared to be raved about on social media but was a let down. Food was so bland

it was great food with a LOT of portions, we only got the lobster linguine for 2 and it had an amazing portion 🤭🤭 suffice to say, very filling and amazing
our waitress, Jiulia was also so amazing and accommodating to everything — giving us amazing suggestions on what to have, which refined our experience there!
the pricing, and the taste of the food is well worth it, especially the lobster 🦞

The menu is seasonal and we go there maybe once every 3 months. This was probably the best menu ever. Really tasty food, everything we ordered was 👌🏼

Το φαγητό πολύ κακό, τα ζυμαρικά με τα μανιτάρια δεν είχαν καθόλου ωραία γεύση. Το τοστ με τον κιμά, ήταν κάτι πολύ απλό και δεν άξιζε για τα λεφτά του. και επίσης μια σκέτη μπουρατα 10£ είναι too much. Πολύ καλό και εξυπηρετικό προσωπικό, σαν μαγαζί δεν είναι κάτι το ιδιαίτερο, ωστόσο ήταν προσεγμένο.

This pasta was one of the best pastas I've tried! Felt so homemade. We had the bolognese and lemon pasta and tiramisu and ice cream for desert which was also great.
The personnel is extremely kind.

Quiet busy place, recommend to make booking if you want to avoid of not having a seat. I love the idea of hooks around so ypu can leave your jackets on the side. Which I think is a great idea especially around cold winter times.
Staff members polite, can't complain. Regularly checked on us.
Food presentation definitely there. We tried viral lobster pasta. It is definitely for 2 or even 3 people. But bit of the flavour missing I there.
My son had bolognese and yet he said the same, and I have to trust him as he is massive pasta lover. 😅
Great you can see chefs working, but at the same time I wa bit surprised seeing them with earpods on. .
Got mixed feelings if I would of came back. But maybe others will find it more interesting.

My first time in London and received the best service I have ever had. I didn’t get our servers name but he was absolutely lovely and was excellent at service. We work hospitality and am in awe of the speed, kindness, and happiness the staff gave us. They didn’t know it was our anniversary but the meal felt as special as if they did. Thank you so much, can’t wait to come back and have more panecotta!
