Just returned from our second visit in a month, this time with friends. We almost don't want to say how wonderful 17 Burgate is as you'll need to book months in advance but something so great needs sharing! The welcome from Ashley is like a warm blanket around your shoulders! Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are immaculate with goodies and sherry on arrival. The buffet breakfast is tasty and copious,a warm option is always provided, Alan's omelettes should not be missed! The off street parking only minutes from the heart of pickering is an added bonus. We are already trying to fit in another trip! This is easily one of the best establishments we have stayed in at any price!!!

What can I say, from the moment we walked in I knew it was going to be perfect. Lovely garden with seating, beautiful room with sherry and cakes on arrival. Immaculate decor and a warm welcome from Alan and Ashley. Breakfast was very good, everything was so nice, sorry to leave but hopefully we will return. Ashley was so helpful with everything. We have just returned from an exceptional 2 night stay at 17 Burgate and have already rebooked with friends. We cannot recommend the hospitality we experienced highly enough. From the moment we arrived Ashley wove an air of peace and tranquility around us. Our room was so comfortable and full of every thoughtful feature you could wish for. The freshly baked sweet treats were a particularly nice touch! Even when we had a problem with the plumbing, Ashley dealt with it consummately upgrading us to another room at no extra cost. Prior to our arrival we were contacted to ask if a buffet breakfast would be acceptable due to unforeseen circumstances. All I can say is 2 die hard cooked breakfast lovers are now converts to Ashley's delicious continental buffet! The produce was fresh, of high quality and plenty of it! warm croissants and pastries , meats and cheeses and a warm special dish made by Ashley! Thanks for everything, we can't wait to return!

Outstanding accommodation and Ashley is so welcoming and the perfect host. The suite we have just stayed in was fresh, clean and superbly presented. The bed was enormous and very relaxing. A big shout out also for the very touching gift for my wife and myself of a card and some wine as we were celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary, plus some cupcakes too. The bathroom was also very well presented and very clean too, obviously attention to detail is a high priority which is greatly appreciated by guests. Ashley is very approachable and nothing is too much trouble. My wife and I stayed in a similar styled hotel a few years ago near Scarborough at a lot more expense, but 17 Burgate B&B surpasses that hotel in our eyes.

17 Burgate is the best guest house we have ever stayed at. Went there with friends who have stayed there before, the host Ashley was delightful and genuine. The room was tastefully decorated, immaculate, spacious with a very comfy bed with good quality bedding. Also lovely touches in the room with sherry & cake on arrival & fresh milk supplied for your drinks. Again, the bathroom was spacious with bath & shower, lovely toiletries supplied, quality towels & bathrobes. Unfortunately due to the weather we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful garden, the location is excellent, loved it so much we are booking to come back next year. We would certainly recommend it to everyone, can’t say enough about how good this place is.

This hotel is wonderful. The service, the rooms, the breakfast and the whole atmosphere of 17 Burgate are all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and the extra touches to make the hotel such a welcoming place were very much appreciated. We will definitely visit again and cannot recommend it highly enough. What an amazing place to stop 👏 after coming across this B&B while planning a trip to pickering and surrounding areas for a car tour. I booked straight away after a lovely phone call to Ashley … he even booked my friends in too giving them the room opposite me & my partner . Ashley is the perfect host very polite and attentive. Not forgetting the breakfast selection, fresh milk every morning for your room ,cupcakes on arrival and how clean everywhere was . We will definitely be booking again as we will need more marmalade once I’ve opened the one I’ve bought😂😂 . Thanks Ashley for everything you did for us all .

Had a wonderful stay at 17 Burgate. Ashley was the perfect host and the hotel was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. We would definitely stay here again, it is a top class residence and everything about it oozes class.

We spent 2 nights in this fabulous place last week. Lovely to be able to use the private parking area & enter via the beautifully kept garden - wish we had seen it in its full glory in the summer, must have been stunning (look after those dahlias Alan). A very warm welcome from Alan & Ashley, with tea & delicious cakes brought to our room shortly after arrival (definately not calorie free!). Our room was spacious with a large en-suite bathroom, all immaculately clean, bright & fresh. Everything we needed was in there, good tea & coffee with fresh milk available, nice toiletries in the bathroom, fluffy white towels & even bathrobes to use. A nice touch providing a small decanter of sherry for a tipple after a day out walking. Excellent breakfast choice. We were naughty & had a full english on both mornings, clearly prepared with love & care & quality ingredients. What more can we say....we loved it, thank you.

We found this beautiful B&B online...what an absolute gem of a place. Ashley and Alan made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we stepped through the door, and indeed through the duration of our stay. The stained glass window and staircase are everyones first impression...wow, absolutely stunning. We had room 14, which is a larger than average room. It is light and bright with excellent views across Pickering and beyond, and it has everything you need for a great experience. Cleanliness is exceptional, not only in your room, but throughout the whole establishment and continues into the lovely garden. You can certainly see that a lot of love and care has gone into this B&B, . The breakfast should not be missed,the menu is extensive and is cooked to perfection. The B&B is a two minute walk away from the centre of Pickering, so is in a great location too. Overall we loved it at 17 Burgate, and plan to visit again in the coming months. Thankyou Ashley, Alan (and of course the beautiful Pilot) for making our stay a great one, and we hope to be back soon xx

Alan and Ashley are the very best hosts you could wish for,so friendly and welcoming at 17 Burgate House.We stayed in Room 11,which overlooks the beautiful garden to the rear.I felt like I was the very first person to have ever slept in this room.The level of comfort and finish to the room is second to none.Breakfast time is really special with a wonderful selection of freshly prepared and cooked breakfast.I highly recommended you stay here if your looking for the best in Pickering, 100%.We have just got home from our 2nd visit now this year.Alan and Ashley are such a delightful pair of guys,really passionate about their business and it still shows. Just an absolute delight for us to stay again and I think,hopefully we will be back in the Winter.Thankyou again fellas,really go the extra mile and it shows.Xx

Wow! An absolute gem! An exceptionally warm welcome, bags carried to my room and a tray of tea and delightful homemade scone with cream, jam a fresh strawberry and a delicious slice of lemon tart served as a welcoming gesture in the beautiful garden. My room was spacious with a decanter of sherry as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. Super comfy bed, quiet as quiet and super spacious bathroom. Breakfast was cooked and served with love and affection and attention to detail. A most delightful experience in a super location with car parking.

Overall a very nice stay at 17 Burgate, lovely garden, housekeeping spot on. Initially a strange set up for breakfast but got used to it, having to decide on tomorrow's breakfast when you had only just finished today's was not easy - even down to juice and cereal ( no self service) but we got used to it. Also, not sure why they wanted to charge for additional items as servings were ample. Hosts were pleasant and attentive. No decaffeinated tea bags in the room but supplied on asking, and appreciated the fresh milk being provided in a fridge.Tea and cake provided on checking in a nice touch (but would have been nice to have been offered coffee).

We had a lovely few days at 17 Burgate, a wonderful welcome from Alan with tea and (amazing) cake in the beautiful garden. Our room was spacious and well appointed, with a very comfy bed, and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were wonderful with plenty of choice, Alan and Ashley were fabulous hosts, nothing was too much trouble, and the hotel was nicely situated in the town. Highly recommend.

The owners are very welcoming and friendly with good local knowledge. The accommodation is superbly comfortable, the food and service is wonderful. No17 gives you proper hospitality, only the best is good enough and nothing is too much trouble. You feel as if everything has been done especially for you, in your best friends' house.

Well where do we start, we have just returned from a wonderful weekend in Pickering. We stayed at Ashley & Alans guest house it is not only their exceptional hospitality but the whole atmosphere they have created. We have stayed in many B&B's but this one is the best by far. They have got absolutely everything down to a fine art. The rooms, the decor, the little bottle of Sherry in the room, even the biscuits were amazing. The breakfast was 10/10, the garden is beautiful. If you visit Matthewsons auctions like we did be sure to book this B&B. Parking spaces available. The town is a few minutes walk away and such lovely friendly people in the pubs and shops. We will be returning sooner rather than later. 5 stars from Leanne, Mick, Denise & Andy

Room was excellent - really light and airy and beautifully furnished. Ashley and Alan could not have been more welcoming and couldn't do enough to make the stay as enjoyable as possible. Highly recommend the breakfasts - all freshly prepared and served with care. Would certainly recommend 17 Burgate to anyone wanting a quiet and comfortable stay.

This is a gem of a find. We were warmly welcomed by Ashley who gave us a lot of local information and were then shown to our room by Allan who was just as lovely. It’s all the little touches that make such a difference such as complimentary tea and cakes when we arrived and the fact that when we asked for decaf tea for breakfast the next morning Allan then came to our room with some decaf tea bags for us. Our room was room 12 which is a suite and has been recently redecorated to a very high standard. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything in the room was just right. The breakfast was perfect and set us up for the day. In our view this was better than some top hotels we have stayed in. All in all, I think it is probably one of the nicest places we have stayed.

We stayed earlier this week for two nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The b&b is immaculate and extremely comfortable with great attention to detail in all aspects of the property. The breakfast was perfectly cooked by Allan and set us up for the day exploring the North Yorkshire moors. Allan and Ashley are a lovely couple who went above and beyond to ensure we had a special short break. We are already planning when we can return. All in all - perfect!!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Ashley and Alan's guest house. They are friendly, welcoming and charming hosts, happy to help. Their garden patio is a lovely respite and the rooms are tastefully decorated and nicely appointed. Breakfasts are top notch, lots to choose from, all delicious. We had a wonderful stay with Ashley and Allan, they are perfect hosts. Private parking in the middle of Pickering within walking distance to local attractions, shops, cafes and pubs. On arrival we were treated to tea and cake in their beautiful, secluded, serene garden which was a lovely way to start our break. The breakfast is the best start to the day, so much choice from fruit and cereal to full English all freshly prepared by Allan, you won’t go hungry. Talk to Ashley for any information you need, he’s very knowledgeable and loves to chat. I must mention that my husband left his sandals in the bedroom on checkout and Ashley very kindly posted them back to him, how’s that for service ! Very much appreciated, thank you. We stayed for two nights with the charming owner proprietors, Alan and Ashley, during which everything was of the highest standard. The hotel is ideally situated to explore North Yorkshire’s beautiful, unspoilt landscape and its location in town with onsite parking ensures you can be free of unnecessary driving. Enjoy the beautiful garden, feast on locally sourced breakfast and sink into the luxurious beds! We’ll be back soon.
