Lovely atmosphere. We ate dinner on New Years Day; wonderful food (brilliant mushroom soup). Lovely staff member Alice made us so very welcome. Other members of staff were very helpful and polite too.

Stayed here on Fri 29th Nov. First impressions were good. all the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The room was well laid out, with a large warm bathroom. Plenty of space to move around. Our room overlooked the Christmas tree on the roundabout, which meant we had a bit of traffic noise through the night, but not intrusive or enough to disturb sleep. nice offering of teas, coffees, biscuits. Breakfast was made to order, so nice and hot with quality produce. we had a full cooked breakfast, which was delicious. If I'm being really picky, the shower lacked any power, which meant I had to take the shower head off the riser rail and crouch in the bath. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

An excellent family run hotel, with on-site parking, offering courteous, friendly service that goes above that expected for its class. The dinner menu was extensive, reasonably priced, and provided very tasty food that arrived piping hot. Breakfast was similarly a success, with my wife particularly impressed with the black pudding served with the English Breakfast, which was locally sourced and made. Personally I don't like black pudding, but I could see the visual difference between this hotels offering and that of the five star plus hotel we stayed in the previous night, whose black pudding offering was a slice off a thick cylinder. Our room was comfortable and what we expected. The bath-shower provided a good flow of hot water, and the bed was large, comfortable, and not over-duvetted, providing a pleasant night's sleep. If you want a comfortable, and economical hotel, I would heartily recommend the Forest and Vale, Pickering.

We've been coming to the Forest &Vale for some years, & it never disappoints. Clean & well-run with well-equipped, spacious rooms and lovely staff, we'd recommend this hotel to anyone. Plenty of parking, too. The only thing is, if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back as the road can be a bit noisy.

My daughter got married and had her reception here 3 August 2024 the whole day from start to finish was absolutely fantastic. Food was 10 out of 10 and the service and staff was amazing thank you so much forest and vale well done

A lovely stay. A very clean and comfortable hotel, where we felt safe and looked after at all times. Staff very attentive, warm and friendly. Pickering is a lovely safe, quiet town perfectly situated to enjoy Yorkshire. July 2024 This is an excellent hotel. The staff are friendly and welcoming and feel like they want you to enjoy your stay. The food is very good with a great range of choices. The hotel is very comfortable, our room was clean and we were very happy with it. The hotel is centrally situated to pickering Town and well situated to tour Yorkshire.

I stayed as part of a large group. It is a three star hotel, so ones expectations should take this into account. The hotel is in a perfect position in Pickering, with good parking and withing easy access of the town centre. It’s a fabulous old building but doesn’t feel like it has been well loved. The decor is tired and the hotel doesn’t’t have a fresh welcoming ambiamce. It feels like the kind of thing that could be easily corrected with a few strategically based defusers or similar. I may have been in an unlucky room (room 6) and I know some others in our party had a better experience but this was supposed to be a superior room. It was certainly big, and the bed was comfortable but the shower was as weak as I have ever experienced. Perfect perhaps for someone who doesn’t like getting wet!! Upon arrival we were told that the rooms would not be serviced during our stay. That felt a bit odd to me. Not changing towels might be a green alternative, but not making up the rooms feels like cost cutting to me The room was opposite the laundry room so there was constantly washing or other paraphernalia outside our door. We had two group dinners. The food was pretty good although having to choose your dinner over breakfast was a bit impatient I thought. Worse though was the lack of flexibility of timing. Our group had 14 rooms and most of us had driven a long way up the A1 on the first evening. There was a bad crash on the A1 and some of us were running late. Our organiser asked whether dinner could be put back 1/2 an hour or so to enable the latest arrivals to have a shower and get changed. In the event… we were called in for dinner at EXACTLY the prescribed time. This is a building with amazing potential, but seems to provide the minimum it can get away with.

We had a lovely one night stay in this beautiful hotel . Everything was perfect .evening meal was very good in a tranquil large dining room tastefully decorated, and breakfast was of a high standard too , the staff were amazingly helpful but Alun Roberts who served us with dinner and breakfast was a lovely man, so helpful and funny , he had many guests laughing .

Had a great 7 night stay here. Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The breakfast and dinner was well presented and was delicious. Certainly one of the best Best Western hotels we have stayed at.

Love love love this place,always call in on our way too whitby too pick or drop our children up from there grandparents,when coming from Manchester. STAFF super friendly 👌 the gardens are lovely so we always take the dogs.NOT allowed in the hotle tho.But the staff always make a fuss.Not expensive either.

Lovely looking hotel with plenty of parking. Was upgraded to executive on arrival and had a lovely room with plenty of space. Downfall was the traffic in my 3 room corridor. The neighbours decided to leave and come back every hour and the lack of soft close doors meant I was awoken by the slamming of the door at all hours even til I went to leave at 8am. Location good for me as was working round the corner at the medical centre and had a selection of Indian and Chinese restaurants if required aswell as the hotel. Need the slamming door issue sorted if I was to stay again but overall great place
