This restaurant does not look very auspicious from the outside, but is definitely worth visiting for the food. It has been on our to do list for some time and we finally dined there at lunchtime today. The foods cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. We thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. The restaurant has an intimate dining area, but there is another area downstairs which can be booked for private parties. All members of staff we encountered were extremely pleasant, friendly and efficient.

Food was very disappointing compared to our last visit. No taste or too salty. Very disappointing. Staff are nice and cheery. Venue is great unfortunately food is not good at all!

We happened upon this lovely restaurant and were a group of 8 (5 kids!). The staff seated us quickly and were fantastic and accommodating with our tweaks so that hot sauce was on the side (for the kids). Venison carpaccio, steak tartare (I may be a convert!), delicious broccoli, with fish goujons and fried chicken for the kids. Delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Great place with friendly staff. We went for the light bites. So nice to have a tapas style experience. Food was so fresh and flavours were amazing. Had a couple of oysters which were really good.

Can't say a bad thing about Angels with Bagpipes, food and service was amazing, costs are reasonable too. Top marks will certainly return 😊👍

Food was very very underwhelming and very overpriced. It was very generic food re-plated in a way to try and make it seem fancy enough to justify the prices. Beef tartare- The yolk to tartare ratio was really off so the entire dish was too “wet” and lacked flavor Fried cod- no seasoning in the batter. The batter was undercooked and doughy in the middle. They were served with a generic mayonnaise, not even tartar sauce or any citrus Crab on crumpet- overly salted and had very boring pieces of raw onion in it that overwhelmed the entire dish Beet and kale salad- roughly 3 slices of beet and a few scatterings of fried kale! Not even the addition of a goat cheese or anything even remotely premium or innovative, utterly basic Only come here if you’re looking to be very disappointed.

Please note the restaurant operates on a small plate basis! Food was delicious the fish was really yummy! The haggis was some of the best I've ever had and I would 100% recommend. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Make sure to book a table otherwise will be booked!

Thouroughly enjoyed our early dinner at AWB. Service was excellent and we loved the selection of small plates and had six to share. Company Bakery Bread is always a winner and complemented the food. Special shout out for the fried chicken and cod goujons. All in all a great experience.

We had an excellent meal here. They recommend small plates and sharing, so highlights were the Oyster, Haggis and crab crumpet. Really good ginger mocktail as well. It's a small restaurant with exceptional service. This is clearly a well managed restaurant and full of staff who are passionate about it. Well done.

The end of Angels with Bagpipes for us. We have previously visited the restaurant and had a lovely romantic meal with great food and service. How things have changed. The new concept did not work for us. It's basically over priced tapas for sharing at ridiculous prices. The concept was explained that you should order 2 to 3 dishes each for sharing. The food was to be honest sadly lacking. It was salty, small and I mean small portions and brought out as explained when it's ready. Sorry but the idea of having your broccoli with your fish gougons doesn't work when the next set of dishes was the Steak and fries with a peppercorn sauce. We were to be honest still hungry after the meal and needed to venture elsewhere to be fulfilled. Sorry but I had informed loads of friends when they visit Edinburgh to book a table. Sorry that won't be happening anymore. It's such a shame that our favourite restaurant in Edinburgh doesn't exist anymore.

A gorgeous restaurant with bite size food and his drinks menu! We were looking for some food to eat in the area and got a table in the bar area for some drinks and food. I had a cocktail and my husband got some whisky. We ordered 5 small plates and a dessert to share. My favourite was haggis small balls with whisky sauce! The staff was super lovely and knew their menu well!

Angel's with Bagpipes is a lovely little restaurant on the royal mile. Our table overlooked the courtyard of Old Town Chambers. Food and service here were both excellent, we ate here on our wedding anniversary and decided to come back for our 10 year anniversary as well. If you get a chance, have a meal here. I'd recommend the Haggis Bon Bons.

Small quaint restaurant with what I considered a limited menu in terms range however it offered small places, medium plates and large plates with tapas-style shareable options. Prices were in the mid-high range so unlikely for those with a tight budget. It's right on the royal mile and opposite St Giles cathedral. There's outside and inside seating.

Delicious shared plate concept restaurant, a culinary breath of fresh air in on otherwise nice but very traditional and touristically oriented open air museum called Edinburgh. Would love to come back here for another go!
