We visited Peperosa Ristorante Bistrot with high expectations, given its Michelin listing and the charming ambiance highlighted on their website. The staff were indeed welcoming and attentive, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. However, the food was a significant letdown.
I started with the “Bottoni di cervo e funghi di stagione” (venison-stuffed pasta with seasonal mushrooms). The dish had a strange bitterness, and the execution fell flat—the pasta was overly thick and lacked the finesse I anticipated. My partner ordered the “Raviolo ai sapori fiorentini nella Maremma,” and we both found the pasta’s texture unpleasant, breaking awkwardly while chewing.
For my main course, the “Anatra, pak choi, arancia, patata Ratte e Stock 84,” the duck was undercooked and incredibly chewy. The dish lacked a cohesive element to tie it together—no sauce to harmonize the flavors, and the orange fillets felt out of place. My partner’s “Guancia di Manzo, cavolfiore e chips di polenta taragna” was visually unappealing, though he said it was acceptable in taste.
Dessert was a “Dark chocolate lava cake with sour cherry, fior di latte gelato, and coconut flakes.” While pleasant, it wasn’t memorable, especially not at the level one expects from a gastronomic restaurant.
The wine recommendation added to the disappointment and mismatched to my tastes.
In summary, while the service and setting were commendable, the kitchen did not deliver the level of culinary expertise one would expect from a Michelin-recognized establishment. The experience didn’t reflect the harmony of flavors or thoughtful execution that defines true fine dining.

Με μεγάλη έκπληξη δοκιμάσαμε τα φαγητά τα οποία όλα ήταν καταπληκτικά.
Το μαγαζί είναι βραβευμένο από ότι διαβάσαμε αργότερα είχε άψογη συμπεριφορά το service.
μας κέρασαν αρκετά πράγματα
μας πρότειναν το πιο ωραίο κρασί που δοκιμάσαμε στα εστιατόρια

Excellent! My favorite place in Lucca by far. The food was fresh and very well prepared. The dessert was amazing. The staff was really friendly as well. It was elegant but I was dressed casually and did not feel out of place. I recommend it for a lovely romantic or family meal. Grazie!

Siamo andati al ristorante Peperosa durante il Lucca comics del 2024 ovviamente prenotando con abbondante anticipo data l'affluenza del periodo. Il ristorante si trova in un ottima posizione all'interno delle mura di Lucca nella zona dell'Anfiteatro. Il locale si presenta all'interno accoglievole e ben illuminato. Abbiamo trovato il menu molto particolare in quanto presenta diverse combinazioni di piatti di varie tipologie di cucine italiane. Il personale di sala è stato veramente gentile e anche molto simpatico. Sicuramente da riprovare per assaggiare gli altri piatti che non abbiamo scelta in questa occasione

Cena in una delle giornate del alucca Comics.
Abbiamo cenato al piano interrato, molto di atmosfera.
Un servizio attento ma mai invadente.
Un cibo ottimo giuste porzioni.
Prezzo medio alto ma la qualità ripaga.
La guancia di manzo è eccezionale.

We come to Lucca a lot. How is it that we’ve never eaten here is beyond me. This restaurant is beyond- it is brilliant! Very creative chef, insanely delicious food, really lovely and attentive waitstaff. Try the stuffed mussels for a real inventive treat. We will put this on our come again list!

We had our lunch here after the elopement ceremony. Simona reserved us a table next to a window from which you can view the plaza.
The food was super tasty and sophisticated. High quality modern Italian cuisine.👌
Waiters were friendly and professional!
It’s a place where the owner runs it with heart and care about their clients. She took care of every single details for us!

io ed il mio ragazzo siamo stati qui a cena per il nostro primo anniversario ed era tutto perfetto. essendo di lunedì c’era poca gente quindi ci siamo decisamente goduti l’atmosfera già intima e piacevole. servizio ottimo, tempi perfetti tra un piatto e l’altro e menù molto interessante. la qualità dei prodotti si sente, i dolci una favola. non ho trovato nessun difetto, nemmeno nel prezzo, a dir poco perfetto per un esperienza ed una qualità così elevati. si sa che in anfiteatro possano esserci ristoranti principalmente “turistici”, ma questo era tutto un altra cosa.

Last dinner in lucca deserved a special occasion and peperosa did not disappoint. We were seated at a beautiful table by the front windows and the service was impeccable from seating to leaving.
Overall, the food was delicious. Amuse bouche was provided to settle us into the full experience. Ravioli was tasty and al dente, although not as hot as we expected. Filet mignon with foie gras, black truffle, and red peppercorns was heavenly. While we were too satiated to order dessert, a final complimentary spoonful of chocolate and bit sized cookies were the perfect ending to a truly enjoyable meal.

Invogliati dalla proposta originale della carta (tartare di gamberi con zuppetta di Tom Yang, mousse di sanguinaccio, bavetta di iberico, uovo sublime con fonduta), abbiamo preso due antipasti e un secondo a testa (filetto di cervo e filetto di manzo alla Rossini), oltre al dolce: non un difetto nell’intero percorso, guidati dal personale preparato e simpatico. Rimane solo il rimpianto di non aver potuto assaggiare tutto il resto. Ma ci sarà sicuramente una prossima volta.

Tavoli vuoti senza prenotazione, ma per noi c’era solo un tavolo al sole! Per i menu degustazione sceglie il cameriere ciò che si può ordinare e cosa no!! Vino della casa no, bottiglie a partire da 40 euro in su. Ci siamo alzati e abbiamo pagato la nostra acqua minerale… mai più

Le pire restaurant !!!! Une déception pour un restaurant qui se prétend gastronomique
Malheureusement, notre expérience a été loin d’être à la hauteur de ses prétentions. Dès notre arrivée, nous avons senti un manque flagrant d’attention de la part du personnel. Malgré une terrasse vide !!!! le personnel est hautain !!!! et nous avons dû rappeler plusieurs fois les serveurs pour des demandes basiques.
Quant au repas, la plus grande déception a été le tartare. Présenté comme un plat phare du menu, il s’est avéré insipide, sans saveur ni assaisonnement. Pour un établissement qui se dit gastronomique, nous nous attendions à bien mieux, tant sur la qualité des plats que sur le service. Il y a sans doute de meilleures adresses à Lucques digne du guide Michelin noté sur la façade.

Sono stato qualche weekend fa . Allora partiamo dal presupposto che il locale è molto carino in un posto bellissimo. Ci sono stato per la prima volta, diciamo che non ho mangiato male anzi molto bene. L'unica pecca che forse la scelta nel mangiare è troppo limitata e quindi ti mette un pò in difficoltà , il personale è molto professionale il rapporto qualità prezzo è corretto per quello che viene servito . Anche se ribadisco un pò troppo ristretta la scelta nel menù.

Αγενής σερβιτόρος. Κάτσαμε άλλα λόγω ιδιαίτερου μενού, γκουρμέ, ζητήσαμε να φύγουμε γιατί θα δυσκολεύομασταν να φάνε τα παιδιά. Μας απαντησε απαξιωτικά ότι ο κατάλογος είναι εκεί κ έπρεπε να τον δούμε. Πότε ξανά.

Un piccolo gioiello all'interno dell'anfiteatro di Lucca. I tagliolini con l'astice e i ravioli con il ripieno di dentice, superlativi. I dolci presentati da ristorante stellato. Personale super gentile e qualificato, conosce i piatti che propone e vi sa consigliare. Prezzo adeguato.

The service was good, but the poppy seed pasta unfortunately had no flavor at all. Good selection of Chianti served by the glass as we were driving and couldn’t order a bottle.

In terms of Michelin star restaurants, this is a fantastic value. The waiter/waitressing staff were extremely helpful.
Having been to several restaurants in the Anfiteatro, this is the best value for the quality of food, but pricey compared to your average meal.
If you have one dinner in Lucca, consider Peperosa.
