The Museo della Pieve di Gorto, also known as Museu da Plêf, is located in the village of Cella di Ovaro in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. It is housed in the former dairy cooperative Agrons-Cella and is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the rich archaeological, historical, artistic, and religious heritage of the Pieve di Santa Maria di Gorto.

Collections and exhibitions:

Archaeological finds: The collection includes medieval reliquary ampoules, ancient spoons, fragments of cult sites from the Lombard and Frankish period, as well as coins and jewelry from late antiquity and the Lombard period.

Religious artworks: On display are liturgical objects such as chalices, candlesticks, and monstrances made of various materials such as gold, silver, copper, and brass. Particularly noteworthy are the baroque wooden sculptures of the Carnic school, including works by Domenico Mioni from Tolmezzo.

Textiles and vestments: The museum showcases liturgical garments and textiles from the 15th to 18th centuries, made by Venetian and Carnic weavers. Some pieces are from the workshop of Jacopo Linussio.

Sculptures and paintings: Artworks include "San Martino and the Poor Man" by Domenico Mioni, a 17th-century crucifixion group, and an altarpiece by Giuseppe Furnio from the 16th century depicting the Madonna and Child between John the Baptist and Peter.

Archaeological relics: The collection includes fragments of architecture and ceramics, as well as coins from various periods, documenting the area's early history.

The museum offers a comprehensive insight into the religious and cultural history of the region and is an important center for the preservation of the Carnic heritage.

Un piccolo museo davvero ben tenuto nell'ex latteria del paese. La volontaria è stata gentilissima e ci ha aperto nonostante non fosse giorno di apertura. Il museo custodisce alcuni reperti archeologici del territorio, ma si concentra specialmente su quelli provenienti dalla vicina Pieve e dai recenti scavi archeologici del complesso altomedievale sotto la chiesetta di San Martino. Una buona collezione di arredi liturgici e di opere d'arte provenienti dalle chiese della zona e "messe in salvo" da malintenzionati (nelle chiese ci sono spesso le copie). Io e mio marito abbiamo molto apprezzato!
