It was built in the 14th century by the Visconti family and is known for its remarkable interior decoration.

Architecture and Interior

The oratory is a small building with a gabled facade and a single nave that transitions into a semicircular apse. The interior is richly decorated with frescoes depicting scenes from the lives of San Giovanni Battista and San Ludovico di Tolosa. These depictions are divided into two registers:

Left wall: Begins with the Annunciation of the Archangel Gabriel to Zacharias and ends with the burial of the Saint.

Right wall: Shows scenes from the life of the Saint, including his admission to the Franciscan order and his appointment as Bishop of Tolosa.

The frescoes are executed in a style attributed to the Giottesque school and represent the only example of thirteenth-century painting honoring San Ludovico di Tolosa in Lombardy.

Significance and Preservation

The oratory is a significant example of medieval art and architecture in Lombardy and is an important part of the region's cultural heritage. It is a place of religious significance and is used for various cultural events.
