Museum | Novalesa | Piemonte | Italy

The "Museo Etnografico della Novalesa" in Novalesa, Piedmont, is a significant museum dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the alpine way of life and traditions of the Val Cenischia. It is located in the historic center of Novalesa and is housed in a former municipal building.

History and significance:

The museum was founded in 1972 when Professor Giuseppe Ferrero encouraged the local population to donate agricultural tools and everyday objects to create an ethnographic exhibition. This initiative led to the collection of numerous objects that now provide valuable insight into the life of the alpine community.

Collection and exhibitions:

The museum's exhibitions are organized thematically and offer a comprehensive overview of various aspects of alpine life:

Agriculture and craftsmanship: Traditional tools and equipment used in the region's agriculture and craftsmanship are presented here.

Everyday life: This section showcases household items, furniture, and clothing that reflect the daily life of the residents.

Traditions and customs: Objects related to local festivals, religious ceremonies, and other cultural practices are on display.

A special highlight is the "Casa degli Affreschi," which hosts five exhibitions and a conference in the summer, enriching the cultural life of the region.

Current use:

The museum serves not only as an exhibition space, but also as a cultural center that regularly offers events, workshops, and educational programs. It is an important part of Novalesa's cultural heritage and attracts both local visitors and tourists interested in alpine culture and history.

The "Museo Etnografico della Novalesa" is therefore a significant place for the preservation and presentation of the alpine way of life and traditions of the Val Cenischia, providing a deep insight into the life and culture of the region.

Simpatico semplice quasi essenziale... Incomprensibile senza l'aiuto di una guida o di un libretto... Vi consiglio di aggregarvi a un gruppo e sfruttare così la guida... Perlomeno io ho fatto così.. Comunque interessante e bello per passare un'ora
