Monumento a Edoardo Gherzi

The monument in honor of General Edoardo Gherzi is located in Allea Park in Novara and was inaugurated in 1975 in honor of the general. General Gherzi, born in Lu Monferrato, was the commander of the infantry of the Divisione "Acqui" on the island of Kefalonia during World War II. After the armistice of Cassibile on September 8, 1943, he resisted the German occupiers. On September 22, 1943, he was captured by German troops and shot along with other officers.
