The Museo e Sito Archeologico Cripta Romanica in Monopoli, Apulia, is a fascinating place that offers a deep insight into the history of the city and its surroundings. The museum is located in the underground rooms of the Concattedrale di Maria Santissima della Madia and presents an impressive collection of artifacts covering various periods of the region.

A visit to the museum takes you through different historical layers, starting with the remains of the Romanesque crypt from the 12th century, built by Bishop Romualdo. In addition, remains from the Iron Age and the Bronze Age can be seen. Particularly noteworthy are the well-preserved tombs from the 5th and 3rd centuries BCE, which provide valuable insights into burial traditions of the time.
