IntrArt- Museo a cielo aperto di Linguaglossa

Museum | Linguaglossa | Sicily | Italy

The "IntrArt - Open-air Museum of Linguaglossa" is a unique open-air museum located in Linguaglossa, Sicily, which transforms the streets and alleys of the historic center into a vibrant gallery. Since the 1990s, numerous artists from all over Italy have created their works in the form of murals, reflecting the history, traditions, and life of the people around Mount Etna.

History and Development: The initiative began under the leadership of the former mayor Turi Lo Giudice, who had the idea of enriching Linguaglossa's cultural heritage through art. Various artworks were created during the event "Legni e Pennelli," which now shape the cityscape. The project was continued by the cultural association "Cultura Aetnae" and became known as "IntrArt."

Collection and Exhibitions: The open-air museum includes about 50 murals created by 24 artists, including Salvatore Caramagno, Franco Mora, Carmen Crisafulli, Francesco Scilafa, Benedetto Poma, and Poki. Each artwork is equipped with a QR code that provides visitors with access to information about the work, the artist, the year of creation, and other details via smartphones or tablets. Some works have been restored, while others have been added to expand the collection.

Significance and Influence: The "IntrArt" has transformed Linguaglossa into a cultural hotspot, attracting both locals and tourists. It promotes understanding and appreciation of local culture and history through art, contributing to urban renewal. The integration of technology, such as providing QR codes, makes the art accessible and interactive for a wider audience.

Overall, the "IntrArt - Open-air Museum of Linguaglossa" offers a unique opportunity to experience the art and culture of Sicily in a lively and interactive environment.

Consigliato!
