My sons took me here for my birthday meal, the food was amazing, the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. It's not cheap but is worth the money.

Great find. Good well maintained rooms with plenty of space. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Location is fine, if you are not looking for the amenities you would find in a town. The food is excellent - easily the best fish and chips I've had - in a pub anyway. Some rooms even have hot tubs! and the outdoor pool is a nice touch. Overall great value, will definitely be stopping again

I wasn’t sure what to expect when my husband said he booked an overnight stay in a pub, with our 3 small children.. But what I didn’t know was that I would spend my evening relaxing in a hot tub, before eating dinner cooked by a former Masterchef contestant, while the bar staff entertained our children. To describe it as a gastropub doesn’t do it justice, as the food was some of the best we have eaten in a long time. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly. The accommodation also exceeded expectations, as we stayed in warm and cosy chalets, with plenty of space for a family of 5 - and a chance to relax under the stars in a hot tub (even with freezing temperatures outside). This place is really unique and great value.

Friends introduced us to this lovely place on 3.01.25. The service was welcoming and the food was excellent. They take care with the detail and the combinations within the food options. They adapted a meal slightly and offered alternatives. It is clear they are passionate about what they do. Thank you hope to see you again.

We went here for Christmas dinner and the experience was dreadful. They didn’t have enough cutlery or glasses no drinks menus, and the management was embarrassing. The manager clearly didn’t prepare for Christmas as he was rushing around trying to do everything, and made us leave our table early. so he could take in walk in’s, bare in mind we payed triple the normal price just to be sent home in a rush. Overall we were disappointed as we came in earlier in the year and we were very happy with the meal and service.

Went for the first time this evening for my husbands birthday. The staff are so friendly, helpful and easy to chat with. Its got a really cozy feel to it. The food was absolutely amazing. The young lady behind the bar was a credit to the place. We weren't rushed which was nice and the chef saw we were happily taking our time chatting as a family so we had a nice gap between courses. Can't recommend highly enough. This is definitely going to be a place to return to time and time again. I'm so glad we found this pub.

What a result! Wasn't aware of it's reputation but a real gem hidden away in Woodwalton! One of the best Sunday lunches ever in a lovely pub setting. Amazingly tasty food (had mushroom and truffle soup, followed by roast pork with all trimmings). Very busy so need to book. Really friendly staff. My only complaint was that I was too full to try the great selection of puddings! Will be back.

A complete gem on the doorstep - how lucky are we?! Let's start with the setting and the rooms - wonderfully comfortable rooms and externally has a lovely rural feel to it in a quaint little village. The trees are lit at night and it's a really quiet, lovely ambience. Onto the food - 4 of us had the 5 course taster menu and it was probably the nicest meal we had all eaten. 5 separate things that typically we wouldn't have ordered off a menu, yet were the most delicious courses ever. It was incredible. The hosts are wonderful and go above and beyond for their guests. This is a gem of a place and deserves our support so that we can make sure they're here for a very long time!

We went to this restaurant last weekend, the food was really good. The burgers, wings and ribs were really tasty. However, unfortunately the service we received from the waitress was nothing short of woeful. She didn't smile once, she would throw the plates down on the table, she forgot our drinks order more then once. I hate it to say it was probably some of the worst service we have ever received, which means I cannot recommend this place.

Gorgeous quaint village pub with unbelievable food. Proper traditional pub with a selection of Ales and lagers on tap. Friendly bar staff who were very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. Good selection of wines Food was another level, so tasty, proper homemade food feel. With an exceptional cheese board (chef even came out and chatted to us about the cheese and where to get it from) We visited in late October so were sat inside, however has an outside garden area with rabbits, a goat and pigs Will be visiting again for the Christmas menu

I'd worked a long day, I arrived and found check-in was in the pub/restaurant, they were obviously busy but the service was poor and simple manners were non existent. My booking wasn't found, and then it was- but double booked -in a room where guests already were. I think this was a fault on booking.com not themselves. However again no manners just matter of fact. I was then placed in a room where hygiene standards weren't great, it was dirty and needed work done. The curtains didn't shut properly (at all) and the pubs beer garden was opposite the room meaning people could most probably see in. The main door had a gap at the top where there was a draft and there were quite a few spiders. I was working away and wanted a place to shower relax and unwind. This wasn't it! I felt very uncomfortable and insecure and checked out after 10 mins, at this point the staff were most tentative however I've still not received my refund over a week later!

£90 room no.4. The bed and pillows were soiled. Shower had no door and been replaced with a curtain. Shower and bathroom had black mould. Floors, units, curtains and bathroom fan were very dirty and the door wouldn't lock. I wouldn't recommend.

Such a gem of a find. Perfect family room with super comfy beds. Pool was a lovely bonus as was the upgrade to a room with a hot tub. Kids loved it. The animals also give it a lovely personal touch. We got told by so many people who found out where we were staying to try the Sunday roast and it was perfection. The dog even got a special one too which was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend staying here great value as well.

This is the best restaurant in the area by far. The food is absolutely sensational. I eat up and down the country and this is the one of the most impressive places I’ve eaten. Been here multiple times before I left this review and I honestly couldn’t find a single fault. We’ve stayed here twice and the accommodation is unbelievable value for money. We’re a family of five and they have a family room that sleeps five and has its own private hot tub. You also have full use of a huge communal swimming pool, along with pool table, Fussball table and dart board. There are pigs and goats for the younger children. You even get breakfast included. The Sunday dinner is the best I’ve ever had.

Wow! What an absolute gem of a hotel/restaurant. We arrived, and met Lucy - extremely welcoming and we stayed in Room 6 which was wonderful, and had everything we needed for a one night stay. We used the pool, which is a fantastic bonus when the sun is shining. Then we went to Dinner....and oh my god! As massive foodies - we were blown away by the food we ordered. Ross (the chef) is so talented, and every plate of food was not only presented expertly but some of the best food we have ever eaten. His passion for food resonates through every plate. We ordered some of the nibble which were fantastic especially the pork Belly bites....then had the Sea Bass, Prawns and Garlic bread....honestly can't wait to return! The price of food was reasonable and perfect for amount and quality of the food we received. Beds were so comfortable, and in the morning we had a wonderful breakfast paying £10 each for the best fry up ever! Good coffee also! We will be back in a couple of weeks and will recommend this hotel/restaurant to anyone we meet as it really did blow our minds. Hoping to get a hot tub room next time, as these were fully booked unfortunately. Well done Dog & Castle! You guys are incredible - see you soon x

This is honestly the best food I've ever had in a pub in the UK - my entire family and I were blown away. Such a wonderful surprise. It's also very reasonably priced and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. I could not recommend a pub more highly
