Museums in Zuglio

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy

Zuglio, located in the heart of the Carnia region in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, is home to significant archaeological sites and museums that provide a deep insight into the history of the region.

Civic Museum of Archaeology Iulium Carnicum
This museum is located in the historic Palazzo Tommasi Leschiutta and showcases artifacts from the ancient Roman city of Iulium Carnicum. The exhibitions span three floors and document the different settlement phases from prehistory to the Middle Ages. Particularly notable is the reconstructed section of the Necropolis of Misincinis di Paularo from the 8th to the 4th century BC, equipped with bronze, iron, glass, and amber artifacts, as well as evidence of the presence of ancient Venetians and Celts.

Roman Forum and Basilica
In close proximity to the museum are the ruins of the Roman Forum and Basilica of Iulium Carnicum. These archaeological sites provide a direct insight into ancient city life and are a must-see for history enthusiasts.

While Zuglio may not offer a wide variety of museums, these historical sites allow visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history and culture of the region.
