The Museum of Electrical Engineering in Pavia, Italy, is a significant center for the history and development of electrical engineering. It was opened in 2007 and is part of the university museum system of the University of Pavia. The museum covers an area of 5,000 square meters, with 3,200 square meters used for exhibiting artifacts.
The collection includes over 4,000 objects, including 300 pieces from the Enel collection, 3,028 pieces from the Sirti collection, and over 1,000 pieces from the university's own collection. The exhibited devices include radiotelephones, power supplies, amplifiers, horn speakers, Morse telegraphs, as well as radio receivers and transmitters.
The museum is divided into five main sections, each representing a different era of electrical engineering developments. This thematic organization allows visitors to get a comprehensive overview of the progress in electrical engineering over time.
A special feature of the museum is the 3D tactile map introduced in 2017, which facilitates access for blind and visually impaired visitors. Additionally, the museum regularly organizes exhibitions and projects in collaboration with primary and secondary schools to promote interest in science and technology.
