The Baronial Palace of Tiggiano is a historic building located in the heart of Tiggiano, Apulia, built in the 17th century and featuring elements of Renaissance style. Originally designed as the residence of the Serafini-Sauli family, the palace now serves as the town hall and also houses the Museum of Arts and Philosophy and a public library.
The building is spread over two floors:
Ground floor: It contains approximately 22 rooms of varying sizes, covering a total area of around 1,770 square meters.
Upper floor: This floor has 19 rooms with a total area of about 1,500 square meters.
The palace features a main courtyard that leads to an impressive garden. This garden, originally designed as an orchard, covers around 6,750 square meters and is divided into four areas connected by symmetrical paths. The garden is rich in various fruit trees and provides visitors with a peaceful oasis.
Behind the garden is a wooded area serving as an open-air museum for Mediterranean maquis. This forest is home to impressive trees such as pines, oaks, and holm oaks, crisscrossed with paths that allow visitors to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the region. The forest is a popular spot for walks and offers a tranquil environment to enjoy nature.
