Palazzo Marchi

Museum | Parma | Emilia-Romagna | Italy

The Palazzo Marchi in Parma is an outstanding example of neoclassical architecture from the 18th century and is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. It was built between 1770 and 1774 for Marchese Scipione Grillo, Duca di Monterotondo and dell'Anguillara, and designed by the architect Giovanni Furlani. The interiors were adorned with intricate stucco work by Giocondo Albertolli.

In 1859, the Marchi family acquired the building, which has been in their possession ever since. Today, the Palazzo houses an impressive collection of artworks, including paintings, furniture, sculptures, tableware, prints, and engravings that reflect the family's cultural heritage. A particular highlight is the painting "San Rocco in Landscape" by Parmigianino, which has been part of the collection since November 2023, emphasizing the artistic significance of the palace.

Visiting the palace provides insight into the life and art of the 18th century in Parma. The intricately decorated rooms and displayed artworks offer a fascinating glimpse into the history and culture of the region.
