Museo di S. Osvaldo, Centro storiografico
Museum | Sauris | Friuli-Venezia Giulia | Italy
The Museo di Sant'Osvaldo, also known as the Historical Center of Sauris, is located in the rectory of Sauris di Sotto and is dedicated to the history of the community of Sauris, particularly the cult of Saint Oswald. This holy King of Northumbria, who lived in the 7th century, was venerated in the region as a patron against the plague.
The museum displays numerous artifacts that document the religious and cultural history of the community. These include manuscripts, liturgical vestments, sacred goldsmithing, votive offerings, and a nativity scene from the 15th to the 19th century. These exhibits come from the parish church of Sauris and reflect the deep religious connection of the community.
The museum is located in a room of the rectory that has been converted into a visitor center. Here, visitors can learn more about the history and traditions of Sauris and gain insight into the religious life of the region.
