It was founded in 1985 and has been located since 2008 in a striking new building in the city center, designed by the Berlin architectural firm KSV Krüger Schuberth Vandreike. Architecture:
The Museion building is a 54-meter-long cube with a height of 25 meters and a width of 23 meters. The transparent front and rear facades allow for a clear view through the building and create a connection between the two parts of the city of Bolzano. The funnel-shaped, glazed end facades allow for an ideal view through the building in an east-west direction. In the evenings, the glass facades serve as projection surfaces, allowing for the display of contemporary media art.
